I'm on the hunt for shoes before I start my nursing school clinicals and a new CNA job. It's come down to the MBT sport shoes or Dansko clogs. Their both a different kind of shoe than I've ever worn - the Dansko slips up and down a little but that's what they said they're suppose to do since it's a clog, and it seems like it's got a hard insole and I'm not sure what that would feel like all day. The MBT is just weird, but sooo comfortable and I found myself standing much taller and straighter, but it's twice as much as the Dansko.
Has anybody tried both of these? I have fibromyalgia and can't afford to have a flare up because I wore bad shoes while being on my feet all day.

personally i just got danskos about two weeks ago and love them but i've never tried MBT so i can't offer an opinion on both
The insoles on the Dansko seem pretty hard, do they not start feeling hard after while?

I have rheumatoid arthritis and I love my Danskos. I was also weary of the very rigid insoles, but turns out my feet love them. I don't have lower back and knee pain anymore. My feet rarely hurt at the end of a 12-13 hour shift. I have no problems paying $100 for them since they last several years. I actually buy mine on Ebay for around $75. But I think it's individual since I've come across those who absolutely hate the Danskos.

The Danskos will absolutely hurt your feet for about 4-5 days but then for most people they break in and feel good. I thought also that Crocs would work for me but it turned out they didn't offer me support(I have high arches)

If MBT feels better...go with those. Look on the internet to compare prices. You may find a bargain. I wear Danskos..they are OK but feel like you're clopping around on a 2X4 for a few days and like any professional shoe..are over priced. Not worth it if you're going to suffer. Good luck keeping your feet happy!!

Z-coil is the way to go. It is the only way I stay on my feet for 12 hour shifts. I wear them to work as a CNA and will wear them on clinical days next semester.
Good luck

I love the dansko's. It took me 2 shifts to break them in. I am tall to begin with...but they make you a little taller. For what it's worth, best spent $$ on footwear. Can't find a good athletic shoe.
Thanks everybody. As soon as I know for sure I have a job I will have to make the decision.
2bHearts I can't do the z-coil unless I paid the extra $$$ to have the coil enclosed - we aren't allowed to have anything open like that. Some people in my nursing class had some tennis shoes that had an opening in the heel pocket, like where you usually have air in shoes, and they were told they can't wear those.

Well, Lana, I spent some time looking up those MBT things online. An hour or so away is the closest store to me, that sells them. For $250 shoes, I'd love to have some insight from someone who's tried them.
How do you stand up in them? They look like you'd rock or fall over! They sound good, but jeez louise. I am allergic to salespeople. Really. So I know for shoes that expensive there will probably be people there who have to fit you, then teach you how to walk in them. Which is all fine and good but I dunno ... the price kinda scares me, even though I've spent almost $300 on danskos in the last two years. I was able to try on a friend's pair first, of the dansko's, and got the first pair on sale, and the people who work at the local uniform store don't care if I buy them or not. So it was a rather relaxed atmosphere.
I don't know anyone, or work with anyone, who wears MBT's. So do they put you off balance when standing up? Can you really not wear them in the rain or kneel in them?
