Mayo Nursing Externship Summer III 2019

I applied for the Summer III nursing externship and I just wanted to start this forum to see where everyone is at in the application process.

@bruhbsn I just called the placement office to ask. She said that the more information we provide, the better they can place us where we'd more like to be. So if you'd rather have your second sub-specialty in your second choice than your last sub-specialty in your first choice, then that would be a great thing to list in the additional comments section. But she did seem to think that ranking every single specialty might be better in terms of making placement easier for them.

I also asked if she knew how the finalists were selected - GPA? essay? She said she wasn't sure, but she thinks that they really just look at them holistically. That they've already gone over things, and with the final 100, they just review our apps more in depth and pay even closer attention to everything.

She was seriously so stoked about the final 100 (not sure if it's actually 100 people or not, but that's what everyone seems to call it). She said it's such a huge accomplishment and that she wishes us all the very best! I thought I'd pass that along because regardless of what happens, it truly is an honor to have gotten this far!!!

I'm not sure what I'll do about the sub specialties. I saw a post on a thread from a previous year where someone said they only ranked sub specialties from like 1-3 because they wanted whoever was looking at the interest form to move on to the next specialty they had ranked. Not sure if I explained that well haha.

My nerves are almost higher now knowing that I have a tiny chance! Before I just told myself it was a shot in the dark but know it could actually happen!

@stieni01 Same here......it is 50/50 at this point if 100 got selected.

Are you guys asking for a confirmation email that they got it (transcript and preference list) after you send it to them?

I just want to ask that to be "okay mentally" but I feel like it is too much.....

I sent them my stuff and then got a email back today from gmail saying it was not received.... So I am going to call the placement office tomorrow and verify if they got it or see what went wrong!

I'm going to submit everything tomorrow after I haveny NICU rotation so I can see where I want to rank NICU on my preference sheet. And yes I am wayyy more nervous I hope the next 2 weeks fly by!!

How are you guys so fast???? I don't even have my transcript yet. My school's registrar is saying you can pick your transcript 3 days after you requested it.

Well it is just an unofficial transcript so I screenshotted mine online. That is what I have done for all my jobs and internships prior.
