I applied for the Summer III nursing externship and I just wanted to start this forum to see where everyone is at in the application process.

Hi guys! I am very excited to be a summer iii nurse extern at mayo this summer! To everyone who also got accepted, have you heard anything else from mayo other than receiving your acceptance packet? I'm worried I might be missing something!

Hello! I’m looking to apply for summer III for 2020. Did anyone get it last year that didn’t have nurse tech or CNA experience? I interned in Peru in Trauma/ER over the summer but other than clinicals that’s the only hospital experience I have since my scholarship doesn’t allow me to have a job. Just trying to put my mind at ease!

Hello all!

Has anyone applied for the Summer III for 2020 yet? I just applied and I am super anxious. How have the past students been selected? I have 6 years experience between nursing home and hospital and I also am a medication aide. I don't feel qualified enough compared to what I have seen about others as my GPA and school activities are not as strong as other candidates in the past. What do people know as far as what they are looking for? EEEK I am just so anxious to hear back!

I’m waiting till December to apply. Waiting to see if I get a local externship for the spring semester to add to my resume first.

Hi guys I am applying for the 2020 program and I was just wondering if anyone got accepted without CNA experience and what everyone’s average GPAs were. My gpa is a 3.64 and I am currently finishing my peds and OB semester right now. Also if you have any tips for my application let me know:)

So it was an amazing experience and I would 100% recommend. Because of my time there in the adult and peds ER I was able to get an externship at the #2 children’s hospital in the country this Summer. Definitely lays a strong foundation.

I did mine through Work The World and loved it. It does cost money but it includes 90% of food during your time as well as housing with interns from all over the world. My school scholarship counted towards one study abroad so I got to help put it towards that which was great but had to turn in assignments when there. You may have to call to understand where there’s still space and have to sign up usually by mid March but it is worth it!
