Mayo Clinic Summer III

Hello,

I was just wondering if any of you applied for the Mayo Clinic's Summer III program this summer? I just completed my application and I'm anxiously awaiting a reply! If anyone has any prior experience, particularly in the ICU at Mayo, please let me know how you liked it! Also, how are the living arrangements for the externs??????

GOOD LUCK TO YOU! I know that over 600 people apply for the externship and they accept around 100+, but they also recommend you put a lot of 1's and 2's on the application. I only put one 1 (ICU) and three 2's because those are the only areas of nursing I am interested in and I don't want to move away from my family for a position I don't want to pursue after graduation. I called HR and they said they will be mailing out the letters acceptance/denial around the second week of Feb. Hope to see both of you there (keeping my fingers crossed) ;).

Wow, only 100+ people out of the 600?? I'm really really nervous now because I don't think I did very well on the interests/expectations page, but I did put mostly 1's and 2's, very few 3. Well, 3 more weeks to go...fingers crossed!

Well, didn't get in. I don't know what it takes to work in their hallowed halls because I thought I had most everything they could have wanted.

Hey guys, I got in. My letter was dated January 28. It was surprisingly fast how they got to screen all the applicants before the end of February. If any of you got in...let me know too. Good luck!

5 students from my program got in and my program is fairly small, only 50 some students. The ones who got in were the students with the highest GPAs in the program no doubt so it is very competitive obviously but there are other factors they consider as well

I got in :) My program is pretty small as well (40) - I think I'm the only one coming from my program (I'm not sure if anyone else applied or not though)... I don't know anyone else that's in, so hi :)

I got in as well! I can't wait to start:) Can't wait to find out if I got my top choice for the area I hope to work in! I'm going to go join the group on facebook now!
