Hello,
I was just wondering if any of you applied for the Mayo Clinic's Summer III program this summer? I just completed my application and I'm anxiously awaiting a reply! If anyone has any prior experience, particularly in the ICU at Mayo, please let me know how you liked it! Also, how are the living arrangements for the externs??????
Thanks,
Krista
Okay, thank you!
I have a 3.4 GPA. And, I work as a PCA for a woman at home. I'm a student nurse mentor for a nursing student program at school. Do you think I have a good chance of getting in? Also, do I only need one reference from a clinical faculty member? What did you think of the program? Sorry to ask so many questions...I'm super curious. And, I've been working on my application for an eternity.
Thanks! :)
Hi mydeluna,
Oh, okay. I'm surprised that I need to have two references from faculty members. This is because in the application there is only one sheet for the reference page and it is not stated any where else in the application or website. I'm glad that I asked you! Thank you very much!

I did the summer III program last summer (10-3 Med/Surg/Transplant ICU at Methodist Hosp) It was an amazing experience, and all who are posting here who go in, you will love it no matter what unit you get on. They pretty much tell you the first day they will offer you a job if you do a good job this summer. I talked to Todd Williams last week as he was at our career fair. He told me apps were up this year, over 700. From meeting other ppl from all over the country, you pretty much have to be "the best of the best" to get into their program. Any questions just ask!
