Mayo Clinic Nurse Residency October 2023

Published

Hey everyone! I am making this thread for people who are interested in applying for the nurse residency program at Mayo in Arizona! I haven't seen anyone make one yet for the so if you're interested in applying, this thread is for you! Hopefully we can keep each other updated on the process ?

4!?  WOW.

My 1 scenario was extremely thorough. For a drop in BP "message HCP to add a bolus" wasn't enough, they wanted to check lactic acid, a CBC and EKG, while also informing charge nurse of change in condition. I added to check for hypoglycemia and med list for prior ativan or opioid administration, palpate stomach for rigidity and tenderness, and check overall for circulation changes or blood loss. It wasn't simple, went on for 20 minutes.

She seemed happy with my responses at the end, but I was sweating by that time, LOL.

Yep 4, I was nervous for each one of them, I kept stuttering for each one of them haha

Ha, I was getting hoorifice with a dry mouth, had to clear my throat a few times, even while trying not to show it!

My sister (who is an RN) said it doesn't matter if perfectly correct, it just shows if you are prepared to think about multiple solutions and seek help when appropriate. She seemed to think I did well enough (gulp)

I just hope we all get offers soon

what units did you all interview for/ choose as your preferences? I picked pcu but they told me a lot of other ppl also chose that so it's definitely not going to be guaranteed

I picked ICU as my #1

Medsurg/ortho 3E for me.

Intervirwer said it was the best unit, hope that means she could imagine me there

I was told 2nd & 3rd week of August offers were going out.

Anyone else hear the same or anything else? Getting excited...!

Is this week like considered the 2nd week of august LOL ?

I hope so. I'm so ready. Been working as an RN and been overwhelmed with just 4 Pts as the workload is crazy, the Pts over the top, and the techs are lazy or too busy themselves to assist.

If I can make more and work less overwhelmed, it would be how nursing should be. Mayo should not be the outlier. But since it is, if I get an offer, I am not hesitating to accept!

I received an offer! good luck to everyone else!!
