Mayo Clinic Nurse Residency October 2023

Published

Hey everyone! I am making this thread for people who are interested in applying for the nurse residency program at Mayo in Arizona! I haven't seen anyone make one yet for the so if you're interested in applying, this thread is for you! Hopefully we can keep each other updated on the process ?

I will be on 4E! And as for HR onboarding, the gentleman on the phone said it would be about 2 more weeks before they contact us about the rest of the process.

interesting! when I spoke to him on the phone, he said he would be sending the package and stuff to get the process started within 48 hours. It's been 4 days and I haven't heard from him yet. Has anyone else been told when they should expect to hear about next steps?

I was told about 48 hours as well and I spoke to the recruiter on Thursday afternoon and still have not received further information.

I'm a potential out of state applicant researching residency programs. I was wondering if this hospital hires new grads into pediatrics or maternal child health departments? Or do they only hire into adult med surg and ICU? Thank you in advance.

Hi! So the downside is that Mayo Clinic does not have any pediatrics or maternal child health floors, unfortunately. If you are looking for peds, Phoenix Children's is a great option! Mayo partners with them for some clinical trials but all the kids stay at PCH.

Thank you!! I will look into them. I appreciate it ?

has anyone gotten their background check results back yet? I have nothing to hide but I submitted mine on 8/17 so I'm getting anxious that I haven't heard back yet LOL

Anyone not accepted receive a rejection letter yet?

I just followed up with an email to get feedback about it. Seems like they should have told us by now if we weren't considered.

They finally answered me back after extreme radio silence, and the recruiter admitted they forgot about me and hired others in my place... So weird, I'm pretty sure no other new grad was going to have a Daisy award or be the co-chair of a hospitals' patient council...

I want to apply again on the next one, but part of me is pretty upset at the lack of professionalism of forgetting an applicant that clearly is qualified and even exemplary.

For those hired, they said in the interview that most of the first year is one day on the floor and 2 days in classes per week. Anyone know if this is still in the 36 to 40 hour range for full time? It would have to mean the classes are 12 hours...

Does anyone know what our schedule for orientation will be like for the first 2 weeks?

I haven't heard anything yet from them! I am assuming we will know more probably a week before the orientation date.
