Mayo Clinic Arizona Nurse Residency 2020

Published

Hello! I am currently in my last semester of nursing school and will be applying to Mayo Clinic. This would be such an amazing opportunity and it would be an honor to be accepted into the summer 2020 cohort.

I've heard that this program is very competitive and difficult to get into without any previous healthcare experience (e.g. Mayo Clinic inter, CNA experience, etc.). I'm worried because I don't have experience other than my clinical rotations. I was wondering if any of you had any insight into if Mayo will hire people without experience / any other advice about increasing my chances of getting hired? Thank you!

Well what a terrific day. My pinning ceremony got cancelled and then this... fun

Like how do you cancel hiring nurses... ridiculous. We would be in there with it anyways. I just don’t get it.

I'm so sorry everybody. I know a lot of us were really excited about this position. I'm praying that every one of us gets our dream job! If not now, than sometime in the future.

For those interested in the ICU, I know that Abrazo Arrowhead is hiring new grads. I had applied a month or so ago and a recruiter reached out to me, but said to contact her once I got closer to sitting for the NCLEX. Here's the link if anyone is interested: https://jobs.tenethealth.com/job/glendale/RN-ICU-full-time-nights-at-arrowhead/1127/15616982. The recruiter's email is [email protected] if you want to reach out to her after applying. She said that none of the other Abrazo campuses are hiring new grads in the ICU, but other floors may. Hope that helps some of you. I accepted a position in my home state (not AZ) so am no longer interested in this position.

Other jobs I applied to in AZ are Valleywise Health (new grad program in the Burn ICU), Banner new grad program, and a few new grad positions at Honor Health. I believe Dignity Health may have a new grad program in Phoenix as well. Not sure if any of these jobs are still open or available but it's worth a try. Best of luck to everybody, and maybe we'll all meet up and work at Mayo Clinic someday! ❤️

Hi everyone! New to this feed! Very bummed about them suspending the program. Out of curiosity, does anybody else's application say "no longer being considered" now? It happened to my application right when I received the email. So I'm unsure if they were no longer considering me in general or if it was just an automated update that occurred to my application once they sent the email out!

Hi! My application said "in review" when I checked in the morning but after I got the email it turned to "no longer being considered"! So I think it was just an automated update ?

Sad that they have cancelled the position. Looks line Banner it is ?

Have you accepted a job with Banner? If so, what was your application/hiring process like? I applied a few weeks ago and the status of my application is "under review". Super bummed about Mayo not working out but I am still hoping to relocate to Phoenix! Thanks in advance ?

Hey everyone,

I’m so sorry to hear that the Residency program for Summer 20’ has been cancelled due to Covid. I’ve been following this topic and I can only imagine how frustrating it must have felt to receive the news. I’m currently in an ABSN program set to graduate this time next year and I also have my heart set on Mayo Clinic AZ. As disheartening as it is, I pray you all receive offers for your dream jobs soon!

It sure sucked but hindsight my friend. It ended up working out perfectly for me as I landed a job at JHH. It's good you are preparing now, no doubt they will reopen the program for your cohort.

Absolutely, and congratulations!! I’m glad to hear that and happy for you! I feel like I’m preparing a bit early, but I’m from out of state and planning to relocate to Phoenix as soon as I graduate, so the more time I have to get ready the better.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to check and see how everyone is doing and find out if you guys have accepted jobs yet and where!

I’m actually going to be applying for jobs today since I just got my authorization to test for the NCLEX!

Oh nice!! How long did it take after you graduated to get your ATT? I graduated May 9th and still have not received mine! Best of luck in finding a job!!

I think my last day was May 8! It just all depends on how quick your nursing advisors can get your transcripts in to the board of nursing. But I would imagine you willl get yours this next week for sure. But thank you, I’ll update on here when I do!
