Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh...........I am HOT under the collar.

I just spent a little while over at that *#@!! 'student doctor network' bb, and I was soooooooooooooo PISSED at all the 'nurses are stupid' comments over there.

Okay, maybe I'm just sheltered, but I have only run into (let's see...counting...) 4 doctors who honest to God thought nurses were worthless little handmaidens and that they were superior gods of medicine. I honestly cannot believe all the little sh!theads over there who think so little of nurses and think that A) nurses are uneducated and stupid and B) think it is docs, not nurses who provide the majority of care to patients.

Do these little morons not realize who saves their butts at 3am?

AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!! I am so infuriated. I'm just floored. I just never knew there was such disrespect for nurses amongst the docs out there. I guess I've just been sheltered. I have almost ALWAYS been treated with respect by my docs, and they have almost ALWAYS acknowledged the value of a good nurse. I am just floored. I just can't believe it. I want to meet every single one of those sons of bytches in a dark alley. No, better yet, I want to meet every single one of them when they get their collective butts chewed by an old NURSE.

Thanks to nilepoc, kmchugh, and meandragonbrett for pleading our case over there, even if they did blow you off because you're just 'lowly' nurses...................

It has been posted in other threads here, so why not just put it here? I read it, and these wannabe docs are so ignorant, it is comical. Brett and nilepoc and others make excellent points, but, well, just read my signature line....... these doc wannabe's are SO unarmed!

(Just to clarify, by doc wannabe's, I mean these student "doctors" and I use the term loosely!)

I would be careful about flaming med students before they are out of training pants even. Thisnurse is right. Many docs are ok to work with, some are fantastice and some are less human than chimpanzees. We want them on our side as much as possible...for our patients' benefit,not because we care what they think of us lowly servants.

First, thisnurse, yes, you're right. And I thought about that too. I guess my response is that when we complain about docs here, we don't make statements like 'all docs are just stupid.' The a$$hole on that bb said JUST THAT...direct quote, mind you!! Blanket statement. All nurses are stupid. ALL of us. And it didn't take long for the rest of the little sh!theads to fall in line and agree that nurses are (and I quote here, again) 'uneducated' and 'have only minimal training,' and 'don't have a firm grasp of the basics.' At least when we complain about the docs, we may call them buttheads and jerks, but no one is questioning their intelligence, something I see as a key element in providing good care.

I always say, I don't have to LIKE a doc. I may think s/he is a total a$$. But if s/he is a good surgeon, good practicioner, and takes good care of his/her patients, I can at least respect them as a physician, while still not liking them as a person. These little turdlettes in training have absolutely no respect WHAT SO EVER for nurses. We are scum. Uneducated scum. STUPID. It is not an attack on our personalities, it is an attack on our very craft and profession. That, I think, is unwarranted and totally uncalled for.

im not saying that he/she was right....oh hell no....any med student that wants to be successful learns right away to work WITH a nurse...this one has much to learn.

there are two docs where i work on my shyt list. i will be courteous out of professionalism but i will not go out of my way to help them in any way other than what is required. of course i dont take it out on our patients but i wont offer to do anything for them. anything they need they have to ask me. they are the ones who lose...not me. i can do one hell of a lot more for them than they can for me.

i dunno....there is a thread on here now flaming docs. i dont think we would like it if the docs started coming here and responding.

No one here said docs are stupid. I would not feel violated by docs coming here. But, I feel no need to register and bash them, they have already done a great job of embarrasing themselves! Besides these are not doctors as far as I am concerned, they are students, and clearly, they have a lot to learn!!!

In all fairness, several docs did ask for the nurse bashing to stop.

I can only hope that Halithane character ends up a medical resident in my hospital. I have over the past 10 years worked with quite a few with that attitude. If they don't take a reality pill and realize that nurses are the care providers and that we save their sorry butts on a regular basis then they usually don't make it through their first year or aren't invited back for a second year. The ones who come in with a chip on their shoulder and treat us with a lack of respect are treated the same from us.

Yeah, I know you're right. And hoolahan too. ~sigh~ I haven't/won't go over there and register and post. Number one I doubt I could post anything really 'stellar' in the logical debate neighborhood right now, number two it's a waste of time and energy...they'll learn.

I saw ONE doc to say something to the effect of requesting they stop nurse bashing, however, I must admit I wasn't really reading some of that thread (8 pages!!) in detail. That halothane guy is a reaaaaaaal butthead. Fedupnurse, I hope he's at your hospital too....and he gets chewed up and spit out.

I guess the reason I'm so ticked is just because like the title of this thread states, I guess I was just sheltered. I honest to God didn't think there were so many student docs/residents who felt that way about nurses, especially in the midst of a shortage. Yes, I know.....naieve. Reason # 5,782 why Shay could never do psych....I give people too much credit...lol! :chuckle

Oh, well. I'm cooled off now. I take comfort in the fact that I know full well when those little kiddies get their feet wet and flash that attitude for the first time in the REAL medical world, it's gonna be one helluva fireworks show. :rotfl:

You can figure that the most active posters over there are spending a correlational amount of time not studying or sleeping when they should be! Let the jerk post away! It just means he has less time to study. I don't know many residents who have time to post ANYWHERE if they are keeping up with themselves!
