DONT be hard on yourself -its not you its this test !-

look at it this way-Consider yourself an RN already-which is true--the ONLY thing you have to do is pass ONE more test ! you have taken hundrends already. --you are only X amount of questions away--

you take some time off--brush up on your weak areas-and focus on test taking strategies-and do it again ! -

i personally consider everyone in here an RN already--they passed the majority of tests from pre-reqs , through nursing school-they passed hospital clinicals and have sufficient nursing knowledge and skills to be an RN.

just X amount of questions on ONE dumb test, which does not do what its supposed to do--seperates a graduate RN from actual RN.

keep your head up-this may family will always be behind you.

I am waiting on my results. I took the test on Wednesday the 14th. My cell and home phone will not call 900 numbers so I am ticked off about that. I really want to know if I passed. My state board (wisc) has not posted any results yet.

I could just puke is there any one else out there with me?

ok so i'm supposed to go to the mall, but i decide to check the forum one last time..THANKS SO MUCH for the support you guys..it means a lot..i'm more disappointed than angry at this moment b/c i know i gave it my all..but like you said JON it's really this stupid test..b/c (not to be funny or rude) i now people who were barely making it in nursing school who took the exam and passed:confused:...and i'm like(what the heck is that?)..but anyways we each have our day to pass this test..i just hope the 2nd time around will be the last, if not i'll really start getting ANGRY:angryfire...

Yeah-i would do kaplan again (dont they offer a free course if you dont pass ??)--so definitely worth it.-

youve seen the test now--you now know when you do practice questons--you can say "this is an nclex style question"--unlike in th saunders book (no offense to it, i have it and used it for content review only) --but those questions are to easy compared to nclex or kaplan

ex.

"other" source nclex style question

1. John a 65 year old retired aerospace emgineer, father of 2 with 4 grandchildren comes into the clinic because he has pain in his stomach. John likes to fish and eat sushi, and taking moonlite walks on the beach with his wife....blah blah blah

Nclex and kaplan--do not put in all that "fluff" , like most books do in their questions--there generally short and to the point.

well...may family i'm sorry to be the 1st one to say i failed:cry:..yup..i kinda had a feeling that i didnt' make after i finished, but i was still hoping for the best..:wink2: ..now i'm going to approach this like i've never taken this before, my only thing is that i don't know where to start and how to study again...i did kaplan, i have saunders 4th ed, nclex rn- illustrated ( didnt' use it much) i gave it my all for sure i know that ,but i still didn't pass...the only good thing about this is that i didnt' tell anyone (friends and/or family) that i was testing so, no one knows that i failed the test:nono:...i'm glad about that, i wont feel the pressure from anyone really...

so i know a lot of you guys are 2nd, 3rd, 4th timers! any suggestions? pm me pls..i'm sorry you guys that i broke the winning streak:banghead:..well i'm gonna go to the mall now with my husband ( he has been soooooooo supportive) i think he feels worse than i do..:crying2:..

i`m so sorry to hear that. just don`t lose hope. always remember that there`s no such thing as failure... only delayed success.

as i`ve said... i failed 3x but never i stopped reviewing this nclex thinggyyy.!!!!!! i told my self over and over that if i`ll give up this battle... its my lost then. review kaplan once again.... i agree with jon.... kaplan is the best for me too:)

ur lucky to have an understanding husband. that`s one thing that u should be thankful of:)

thanks jon..i actually had my sister checked it for me yesterday. and it was not updated yet (well it was last updated may 13) i was planning to just wait for the mail, yet my auntie asked me yesterday if i did checked on it (last time i told them the result will be out as early as after 72hours) so, pressure sink in. well..i think im the one pressuring myself. so my sister told me not to checked it (she'll be the one to do that for me) hmm..so..movie marathon for this day. and unfinished novel to read..tee hee..i'll try to keep myself busy as much as possible..

hey boobool07, sorry to hear about that. don't say that you're the only one who failed. everyone take turns to the pass-fail strategy of nclex. jon was right, it's not you but the test. if you've done it cover to cover (the content) then doesn't know what to prioritize which answer to take it's really hard..this time do the questions and take it easy. well, before that..take a rest for a couple of weeks (go out of town or something--well water is a therapy for me, you know hang out and sit on the shore, enjoying the wave). just take some rest with your hubby:icon_hug:

go with saunders. you say you already have that book but didn't really use it. after each chapter on a body system you learn all the drugs that have to do with that body system so you learn them in context which is really helpful.

do the saunders book. do the questions first. after each question read the answer and take notes on what you don't know. read all of the answer and take notes even on what is not a part of the question because you still need to know it. sometimes it is helpful to read the rationale, sometimes not, because some of the methods are not proven to work. then go back and review the chapter. underline (or highlight) what you don't know and take more notes. just go chapter by chapter. if there is a chapter that you really know well then you don't need to go back and review but i always did and found it helpful because there were many things in the chapter that wasn't in the questions. :)

do not go back to answer the questions twice. that is wasting time. those same questions will be on the cd anyway.

when you are done with an entire subject plus the pharm, then go to the cd study mode and go to content then choose that subject and do all those questions. take notes.

some subjects on the cd will have more than 500 questions so you won't get it all done in one day :) but it's important that you do the cd in this manner. do not do test mode. wasting time. if you go subject by subject you will end up doing all the questions on the cd and reading all the answers and taking notes on it all.

at nite, before you go to bed, read your notebook on all the things you didn't know. then when you wake up in the morning, before getting out of bed, try to recall 90% of what you learned the day before. then start all over again for the day :)

take breaks when your brain gets tired. you can only learn so much at a time. eat healthy and get some exercise because you need balance. you can't sit there all day long and just study.

this is hard work but it really gets the info in your brain.

good luck and get going :D
