May Nclex takers...come and join hands...

Published

apparently, ive been waiting for other people to start a support group for may nclex takers.....but no....so here i am.....

im taking my nclex on the 7th of may...hopefully, i pass this time. im tired of living a non-RN life......

hi everyone! new user here.

i've been reading these forums for a while now, trying to find the light at the end of the tunnel. i recently took the NCLEX on may 8th for the 2nd time and i'm pretty much dying over here waiting. i've read here that people took it on or around the same day as i did, and got their results. so, now i feel even WORSE that i haven't seen anything on the CA BRN website.

but i did call them today to see if they mailed me the results yet, but the guy said that my results were NOT in yet and that it is "still being processed" whatever that means.

a little background about my recent test...i did NOT finish, i was there the whole 6 hours and my last question was number 181 an SATA question.

i feel so HOPELESS, :crying2: i've cried so much i honestly don't know what to think anymore.

does anyone know why they haven't processed it yet? is it because they have to evaluate my last 60? what's taking sooo long? its been 6 days of torture!

PLEASE if ANYONE can help me out I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT. i have so many questions (but i don't want to make this post any longer) so that's it for now, thanks!

A septic client with hypotension is being treated with dopamine hydrochloride (Inotropin). The nurse asks a colleague to double-check the dosage that the client is receiving. There are 400 mg of dopamine hydrochloride in 250 ml, the infusion pump is running at 23 ml/hour, and the client weighs 79.5 kg. How many micrograms per kilogram per minute is the client receiving?

Answer:7.71 mcg

Can someone help me how to get that answer!

my calculation is:

400mg/250 ml = 1.6

then, convert to mcg, 1.6 x 1000 = 1,600

then, 1,600 x 23 / 79.5 = 462.8

then 462.8/60 min = 7.71 mcg/kg/min

i did the long method.hehehe

i convert 1st

400 mg= 400,000 mcg before dividing it to 250..and so on

ending up with the answer 7.7148847:D

hey missmykids this is how i did it:

1) 400mg/250ml x 23ml/hr = 36.8mg/hr (the ml cancel out)

2) 36.8mg/hr x 1000mcg/1mg =36,800 mcg/hr (the mg cancel out)

3) 36,800 mcg/79.5 kg = 462.89308 mcg/kg/hr

4) 462.89308 mcg/kg/hr x 1hr/60 min = 7.71 mcg (the hrs cancel & you are left with mcg/kg/min)

hope i explained it okay. let me know if you have any questions. i don't know if someone knows an easier way. but that's how i figured it out. hope it helps!

The physician prescribes heparin 25,000 U in 250 ml of normal saline solution to infuse at 600 U/hour for a client who suffered an acute myocardial infarction. After 6 hours of heparin therapy, the client's partial thromboplastin time is subtherapeutic. The physician orders an increase in the infusion to 800 U/hour. The nurse should set the infusion pump to deliver how many milliliters per hour?

Please give me your answer...and computation...

1- how many ml per hour 600*250/25000=6 ml per hour

2- 800*6/600=8 ml per hour

answer 8cc/h

Also, even though Ive never seen this....... KNOW HOW TO CALCULATE gtt/HR usually is drops per minute but just remember..... READ the question, dismiss the diverters, and do ALL the math.... Stay calm and meticulous taking that test.. GOOD LUCK ALL...

OHJOYITSME

Are you in CA ?? and thus a subject of the CA BRN ??

If sooo well , I am the self proclaimed "expert" of the elustriuos CA BRN

They will NOT give you results over the phone.

The "stock" answer is "your file is still being processed"--i got my fail letter the second time-and called them just to see what they said-and they still said "its being processed" even though..i had the fail letter in my hand.

so all you can do is wait--i know its hard --trust me. i know

--as far as running out of time--again, i know--i tested last weds may 7th (3rd time) and ran out of time !!! on questions 250 ! and my last few questions were S.A.T.A--and i passed.--so i want you to hang onto that hope.-it DEFINITELY is possible, they look at the last 60 questions only to determine pass/fail and if you last question was a S.A.T.A (i.e higher level)--chances are you did ok.

GWAFUH-

GOOD LUCK !!!--take a few days off before your test to "recharge"--the may family is there with you.-

JON-"im one of THEM now hahahahahahaha" :)

I am doing the study mode....yes, nclex 3500 q are harder than saunders...but atleast, we get to try different approaches and i could still use the content I learned in saunders.
