maximum number of retake in NCLEX,ENGLISH EXAMS ,CGFNS

HI,
how many times are the NCLEX,english exams and CGFNS can an individual retake it...? is there a limitation or you can take it again and again until you pass?

I would suggest that you change the way you think. In healthcare we are taught to do things the right way the first time around. There are no trial and errors in healthcare.

However, to answer your questions you can re-take it as many times as you want but there are waiting peiods for the next possible slots for all three qualifying exams you mentioned. Please do not think what are those waiting periods because you should always think positive and do everything right the 1st time around.

Take everything one step at a time.

One of the 1st decisions you have to make is to choose w/c State you would want to work and live. Some do not require any service from CGFNS at all and some require only a credential evaluation service (CES) from CGFNS and not the CGFNS Certification (CG Exam included). Some states do not even accept IELTS yet and prefers the TOEFL.

1st step: choose what State you would want to work and live and everything can be narrowed down.

and to add some state BON's have requirements if you fail a certain number of times before you can resit.

Would definately go with Lawrence and think of passing first time.

Can I just add that the N-CLEX costs $200 to register for & then $211 (at the moment) each time you take the test - so unless you're planning on throwing money away I'd make sure you're as ready as you think you can be before taking it!

I'm sure there's plenty of $$$ involved in re-taking CGFNS too (which incidently is not a requirement for many states so check out if you really need to do it at all).

Most BON's have a 45-90 day period inbetween re-takes & I think some, at least, have a requirememnt for further schooling if you fail 3 times.

At the end of the day don't take it unless you believe you can pass it. I know that people do fail but you have to give yourself the best chance. So study hard then go for it, planning to do it just the once. Believe me you DO NOT WANT to go through that more than you have to anyway!!

Hi, i have a question. I failed NCLEX last week. I want to retake asap. So do i send my state's (New Mexico) BON the reapplication? A friend told me that i could send after 45 days, how true is that? My ATT will expire nov.26, 2006. Thanks for replies! :)

Hi and welcome

You can only use your ATT once. You reapply to the state who issued the ATT pay the fee and then arrange to sit. I am sure you can do it now but if the state has requirement on how long you have to wait before re sitting then you will not be able to sit until that time is reached

You should apply for re-examination and follow the instructions there. Everything you need to know is in the official website of your respective State BON.

Thanks so much guys for replying. I will send my reapplication on Monday. And for now, i have to reread my Kaplan and Saunders books. I focused more on the knowledge base and wasnt able to do lots of practice tests. I know my mistakes and i will work hard on it. Thanks and more power to us nurses! God bless us all!

So it is always better to choose a state that doesn't require further schooling at all for 3x or more of failing, just to be safe, and also, I think state that doesn't require CEUs for license renewal.

Not a smart move, you pick a state because that is where you wish to work.

You will be getting CEUs for where ever you will be working, they come along with the territory of being a nurse in the US, and with the required classes that you need to attend. You will find that yoyu will usually have more than you need to renew a license, or have them when they are not required. But please, pick someplace that you wish to work, and not for the above reasons that you mentioned.
