Mature LVN students; over 45

Published

Hello, I'm a mature LVN student here in California and am curious if there are many others like me out there. My kids are grown, I've had a couple of previous careers and I'm ready to take on an LVN.

I was 39 going into LPN school, became a LPN at 40. I am now 43 and starting a RN ADN program in january.

As long as this is what your heart truly wants you to be, it is never too old to follow your dreams.

I'm 45 and will be starting my RN program in January.

I am starting my LPN program in September! My oldest son is starting College and I decided on Nursing school as my career change at 35!! Best of luck on your journey ;)

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I am 37 years old my oldest hold is gonna be a junior this year. I don't believe it ever too late to follow your dreams. Good luck to all. We can do this. *yelclap*

I'm also 37 and going for my LPN. Second careers are the best careers right? :lol2:

I'm 37, mother of 3, starting this new journey. Good luck to you all!

I am 49 and hope to graduate at 50.

Gotcha all beat! (Is that a good thing, LOL!) I'm 53 and will be 54 by the time I graduate.

I've had several different career experiences since I've been working for almost 40 years now, but most recently I've been a medical assistant and phlebotomist. Since I always wanted to be a nurse, and since I realistically will not be able to retire until about age 70, I figure I might as well spend the last portion of my working years doing something I've always dreamed of.

LilacHeart you are an inspiration!

I am 39, with 5 kids at home, and will be 40 when i graduate :nurse:

Specializes in OB.

I was 38 when I got started in the medical field, kids were 2, 9 and 13 then. Went to school for Surgical Technology while working as a M/B tech. A year after working an an OB scrub tech and now 41, I'm starting my general classes towards a BSN next Friday. Go for it!
