Well this is interesting ---Gaetz is 38 and single, reportedly under investigation since near end of Trump Administration by  DOJ under AG Barr.

Yeah. It sounds like he's in a pickle. 

My point was more related to the tendency of media and public figures to refer to teenage females as young women when they are not women, they are adolescents.

I think in this case the media and the public are unsure of the ages of the women and girls involved and so are using the term.  I think Matt Gaetz and Joel Greenberg are using the term to deflect in order to garner support so they won't end up in prison. 

However, both Joel Greenberg and Matt Gaetz know that they are going to prison! Joel Greenberg is cooperating for a possible lighter sentence.  While Matt Gaetz is on Fox Noise trying to garner sympathy and save his political future and civil freedoms by using terms like "young women".  Gaetz also went on Fox Noise while Trump was in office and told him to give away blanket pardons (not a thing) just-in case people he knew and who supported him would be indicted for future crimes *ahem him* so, he saw this coming.  He also likely knew during that same time that the Barr led DOJ started the investigation.

I have a feeling that more republicans will be caught up in this scandal. It would explain why they are not coming to his defense since they have a tendency to rally around each other, whether they like the person or not! 

Also a climate must have existed in the House, if Gaetz felt comfortable enough to share pics of his encounters and with it being Florida, you can bet that campaign discrepancies will be exposed and multiple people will be involved. 

Yes indeed, I feel that this is likely to get much bigger!

He's gone into Trump mode:  it's "false news", he's a victim, etc. 

I think he knows that without direct proof he stands a chance of walking and not just a "he said" kind of circumstantial evidence.  It would have to take a coordinated effort on the part of the women, who really aren't victims per se and are prone to silence so they can make a living.   Disclaimer is that all women in the sex industry, especially underage are victims.  I don't mean that.  I mean that he didn't commit rape just by paying for a willing prostitute unless she was under 18.

Time was a politician could admit to an affair and lose his political career.  I think Clinton changed all of that.

I don't think Clinton changed that, he just did what other presidents and powerful men do and have done.  Republican politicians changed that with their decision to make such matters the focus of their efforts.  I don't have a problem with this honest appraisal of the value system of these white men who want to advantage themselves of the many perks of political position. Values and character matter.
