Mat Leave

Hey, I was just wondering how many hours you have to work in order to get 6months of paid mat leave. thanks

Ours is paid in Canada, though I don't know the exact rate.

I'm in Ontario. We get a year off, with job security. Employment insurance pays 55% of your wage for the year. Our hospital pays a top up to 95% of your wage, for the first 6 months. Canada Rocks!

Beats the heck out of the whopping 4 1/2 weeks I could afford of with my last one who was born last Nov. :o

what a shock i had on reading what mat leave ur entitled to. Here in UK we get 26 weeks paid and if u have been working for same company for 12 mths plus u can have extra 6 mths unpaid. im currently on unpaid mat leave and go back in sept. my mat leave began 2nd jan and got paid till 2nd july.

only having 6 weeks is not good. That must be awful.

It is awful. But then so is a family of 5 living in the car.

I think our country needs to realign its priorities. I personally would rather see some cuts in other programs if it would allow moms to spend those first few sleepless months home taking care of their own child. My husband and I work maily opposite shifts so that one of us is usually home with the kiddos. We have only recently started to utilize some part time child care. There is another issue the costs of child care.........

which even though it amounts to such a large expenditure for my family really broken down to an hourly seems like a small renumeration for the person taking care of my precious babies :o

I'M MOVING TO CANADA!!!

Gotta love Canada. Here our staff gets 6 weeks, if they have the personal time.

Good luck. :)
