Accepted: Simmons Dix Scholar Nursing Program!!!

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hello everyone!

I'm new posting on this site but I have been around reading other peoples comments.

I wanted to start a thread for students that have been accepted to the Simmons nursing program entering fall 2012 as well as students that have attended and graduated from this program.

Please leave any comments, I am eager to read what everyone has to say.

Here is a bit about my self:

This will be my first degree, I attend Roxbury Community College and will receive my AS in Health Science by the end of the summer (while working full-time). It sure has not been an easy task. I had my back up plan, with the competitiveness of nursing programs I never imagined that I would get accepted to any school in Boston. Needless to say, my excitement has not been easy to contain and I smile to myself every time I think about what awaits for me in the near future.

Thanks guys! Jazzy I responded to your PM but it doesn't show in sent messages so I'm not sure if you got it. What's the transportation fee? Is that a special pass for the T or something? I'm planning on driving in to the city so I'll be paying for a parking pass. De- what's the loan origination fee? Never heard of that. How much is the other fee you mentioned? Thankfully, I already have health insurance.

I'm planning to sign up for mass health for my health insurance, not sure how it will work out. As for the transportation charge, I'm assuming that is what they project you will spend on travel, wether it is on gas, or T pass. I'm 100% sure on that so don't take my word for it.

Origination fee is a 1% fee that comes off you total loan amount.

BostonTerrier, thanks for the PM! I can't send one back until I have 15 posts on this site. I was able to switch into the 18 month program which actually starts in June this year! (I guess last year's class felt that there wasn't enough time in the semester for the required content).

Hi is any one applying for the summer 2014 accelerated nursing program?

To everyone who started this program, how has this first semester been? How has clinicals been, what type of schedule have you had? Has anyone continued to work?

Thanks!!!

Any feedback? Anything at all... :) thanks!!

First semester was very stressful but doable. I learned lots of new information which meant studying everyday for me. Second semester is equally difficult in the amount of information we need to learn, but it feels less stressful because some information is repetitive. Despite the stress, I love it and have learned a lot. I feel very prepared to begin clinicals. I start clinicals next week :) and am very excited. I will be at a hospital in Boston and know most of my classmates will also be in Boston hospitals. My schedule has been weekday mornings for all my classes, and the only problem I had in regards to scheduling was clinical 7am-3pm (I had to figure out dropping my child off at school). Everyone at Simmons is very supportive and willing to help with anything. Theres a sense of family, where everyone wants everyone to succeed. Love Simmons :)

Thank you so much for your feedback!! Truly appreciate it. Just another question, how many days a week were your classes? For your clinical semester, how many days a week do u have clinical and how many lecture courses in addition!?

During Fall and Spring I had class 4 days/week. I will have clinical once a week but I think next semester its twice a week, not sure. During the fall I took 4 lecture courses (12credits), and spring 3 lecture courses, 1 lab and 1 clinical along with those same 3 courses. So class 3 days and clinical the 4th day. You're welcome!

I know this is an old thread but there doesn't seem to be too many Dix threads. I just was accepted to the accelerated nursing program for fall 2015! Very nervous about paying for it.

Has anyone worked while they were in school?
