I have browsed this site on and off looking for info on Nursing Schools. I thought I would open up a thread for people applying to Mass Bay Community College for the fall 2010 Day RN program. What have you heard? What do you know? Does anyone know the selection criteria? I am a Mass Bay Student, wait-listed last year, hoping to get selected in April.
My stats are:
68 Credit Hours at MBCC
2.8 GPA (low gpa is from when I went to school 10 years ago, I have brought it up over 1 whole point)
B or better in all my Co-reqs (A&P 1 & 2, Micro, Etc.)
Thanks Hopeful! I have 4.0 and 26 MB credits - I don't get it! Do you have Micro completed? Or transfer credits also? I know I shouldn't be trying to second-guess the process, could drive me nuts !
I did complete micro, and I did have transfer credits, though I don't know if they factor in to the decision. I have met people who were admitted off the wait list. Keep plugging away!
I just got accepted for the Day program Fall 2010! I got my letter 4/12 after being on the wait-list for about a year (not really sure how long- seemed like forever!) My GPA is 3.8, took all my pre-reqs (22 credits) at Massbay (transferred the rest). I have my BA and that GPA was 2.6 but I don't think they look at that. Hope this helps and Good Luck to everyone waiting and who got in!!!
Congratulations! That gives me hope (although I've kind of resigned myself to starting next year and finishing the co-reqs)...but you never know. Let us know how you get on!

Thank you! I actually don't even remember when I applied for the Day program it was that long ago. But I know it was about a year ago that I finally got at least on the wait list and now acceptance. So I dont know how they choose people, doesnt make any sense to me. I finished my pre-reqs in May '09 so maybe that's why...who knows! But don't give up...especially since you have a great GPA! Also, I spoke to someone in the Nursing dept a couple days ago and she said after orientation they expect a few people to pull-out. She said its a reality check and some realize they can't do it. I hope that's not me (still scared of how i'll handle this-single mother, have to work because I have a mortgage!) but there will be some, so you still have a chance for the Fall!
