Mass Bay Fall 2010

I have browsed this site on and off looking for info on Nursing Schools. I thought I would open up a thread for people applying to Mass Bay Community College for the fall 2010 Day RN program. What have you heard? What do you know? Does anyone know the selection criteria? I am a Mass Bay Student, wait-listed last year, hoping to get selected in April.

My stats are:

68 Credit Hours at MBCC

2.8 GPA (low gpa is from when I went to school 10 years ago, I have brought it up over 1 whole point)

B or better in all my Co-reqs (A&P 1 & 2, Micro, Etc.)

What about you?

Hi, I haven't applied to Mass Bay but was contemplating it. I am currently at Bristol Community. I am currently taking A&PI so know I need a bio as a prereq for this course.

When is the deadline for the Fall?

The deadline was Feb 1st I believe. So it is to late for the Fall 2010 Day, but there is a night RN that starts in January 2011. I'm not sure what the deadline is for that. Probably Aug or September.

Hi - I've applied to Mass Bay for the Fall. I believe they send out the letters the first week of April. I have a 4.0 GPA and 26 credits (all Mass Bay), I'm taking another 7 credits this semester. I'm proud of my GPA but will still have a couple of co-reqs left to take so I'm not sure if I'll be offered a place. Hope so! I hear it's really tough to get in (and tough once the classes start - my A & P prof told me the class that started in Fall 09 are down from 70 to 40 students already!) Yikes.

I can't believe they can go to 40 slots. I heard my current college cut slots too....

Hey Mastudent, that is a great GPA I hope you get in this round. I don't see why not, but it seems like their selection process is shourded in secrecy, so who knows. April can't come soon enough.

I should have been clearer - I meant to say that 30 of the 70 initial students had dropped out within the first few months - it wasn't that the college cut the slots, more that it was tough going!

I called today and I was told they haven't sent the letters out yet. They said mid-April.

Any day now - good luck everyone.

Hi everyone,

I'm waiting to hear from Mass Bay, too. I want to call them every day and ask if they've sent the letters. Please post when you hear!

Got my letter today - I'm on the waitlist. Right now I'm really disappointed, seems I'll have to spend the summer in limbo. I wonder what the chances are of me getting in. Apparently "waitlisters" are not assigned a number, but are considered on an individual basis if space comes up. Does anyone out there have an idea of my chances? Thanks!

I got my acceptance letter today!! I am so excited!

I just got my letter! I got in the program. I am very excited!
