UMSON Fall 2015

U.S.A. Maryland

REMINDER!!! The deadline to submit your Fall application is nearing. As of now, the deadline has not changed from February 2 (short of 4 weeks away).

This is my second time applying--I was wait listed for the Spring term. Currently, I am studying to take my TEAS exam again on January 27th. This exam was the only portion of my application I was not confident in. I scored a 70% without refreshing my memory on key concepts by studying before hand. I did find the test to be a "you either no it or you don't" kind of thing so from personal experience--STUDY!

I have no outstanding prerequisites and my sciences are as follows:

AP1. -- B

AP2. -- A

CHEM -- B

MICRO -- A

I had the privilege of chatting with the last group of students and found this forum to be quite helpful! Please use this post as a way of communicating, sharing experiences, and giving advice. Hopefully, we will be classmates in the Fall!:)

They require a 70% minimum on the TEAS

Per the requirements 70% is the standard. I'm not comfortable with just meeting the standard. I am the student who banks on good grades because as we all know, life happens and should something happen during the semester at least I have good grades to fall back on. I do, however, think that it is still impressive that although your TEAS score was not the highest your packet was strong enough to be placed on the waitlist.

I thought if you are waitlisted then ..you are automatically put on the list for the Fall? Although retaking the TEAS, would make you a better candidate.

Of course!

I was surprised myself as well to find out I got placed on the wait list with my TEAS score. I'm planning on retaking my TEAS again.

I got the same grades as you.

I know two students that applied with the same TEAS score of 70 and same grades who were admitted. One of them got accepted after being on the wait list for a month. It varies semester to semester.

Did you apply for the Shady Grove or Baltimore campus?

Yes, they roll over your application to the following semester.

Hey

Would you mind changing the title of this forum to "UMSON Fall 2015" if possible? I wouldn't want current or future applicants to get things mixed up! :)

Bcandygirl,

I received an email asking if I wanted my application to be considered for the Fall semester. I recently had newer transcripts mailed to UMSON so I will call tomorrow and ask if they have received it. Last term, they were excellent about updating our profiles so I really am not too concerned about that. But while I have someone on the line I could ask that question as well.

Cjriveria,

I applied to the Shady Grove campus.

Pinkeagle,

Sure, of course I will change it, if possible.

This thread is an extension of the previous thread, UMSON 2015. Use it as a means of communicating, giving advice, and sharing personal experiences.

In case anyone cares to know, I am a Shady Grove applicant, currently retaking my TEAS, overall GPA of 3.8 with a science GPA of 3.50

I'm actually applying for the CNL program. I was waitlisted for the Fall 2014 BSN program and opted out of automatic consideration for Spring 2015. I decided that I would shoot from a MSN instead because I already have a undergrad degree.

When I went to an info session I was told that the TEAS score was mainly a requirement because the school was required to ask for it. They made it seem like the score doesn't hold that much weight on the application ( which kinda bummed me out bc I got a 90 on the TEAS. Kinda hoping that still helps me out ).

Emilykwas,

first off, congratulations on such an outstanding score. In comparison to national percentiles, you surpassed many.

secondly, your score benefits your application in that you did exceptionally well but I do believe (not a fact) that your entire application is equally weighted --TEAS scores, letter of recommendations, GPA, essay, & resume'

Hey I'm applying to the psych dnp program. I don't think I seen anyone post on the last fall thread, so hopefully more people respond to this one. But anywho I graduated from umson in 2012 and allnurses definitely helped with anxiety when I applied. So I'm looking forward to talking with everyone thru this long process.
