Has anyone gone through or know of anyone who went through Marquette's direct entry MSN program? Looking to get some information.

Thanks!

06Cali,

I'm also applying for Summer 2010 with a specialization in Older Adults (Geriatriacs). Have you completed your application yet?

Hello,

How many people applied to the DE Program for the summer 2010? The deadlind just passed and I am anxious to start the program. Any others?

I got an email today stating that we should be notified of a decision by March 1, 2010.

I applyed for the 2010 cohort and I got in!!.. has anyone else got notification that they got in? I would like to meet some people also in the program. I am graduating with my BS from a school in CA a few days b4 the start of this summers program. So I will be moving over to WI on May 26th, is any one in the same situation?

j39knickrest,

Hello! How and when did you find out about your acceptance? Please share. Thanks

MLH

I got an email about 2 weeks ago at the beginning of Febuary. The email stated that I had 3 days to contact the school to tell them to reserve my spot. I did not get an offical letter yet from the school but they said it would come within the next few weeks.

Congratulations on your acceptance!!! I called the school earlier and was told that a few acceptances and denials went out earlier. They said that the second wave of acceptances should be coming around soon, depends on the number of people that turn their slots down.

So what is your concentration going to be if you don't mind me asking?

Congrats j39knickrest! I haven't heard from Marquette yet, but I wanted to speak to your original question about moving. I am also in California and will likely be moving very close to the program start date if I get in. I lived in Milwaukee last year so I am not too worried about the quick turn around. Obviously I don't know about your prior experience in Wisconsin, but if you have any questions about moving from CA I would love to offer you some of my insights.

Just wondering if anyone else has heard from Marquette. I know they sent out that email saying to expect news around March 1st, I am anxiously awaiting any news.

I am in DE11. About half of our class had just graduated from undergrad a few days before beginning! I was kind of surprised by that, but anyway - housing here isn't' an issue. Plenty of people came last minute and found places. My landlord owns a ton of apartments right by campus, if you're interested I can give you the info. Good luck and congrats to all who got in.

I wish someone had told me this BEFORE I accepted - but if you were planning to go FULL TIME for the graduate portion it's LIKELY NOT happening - unless you do gerentology! this was just sprung on us, and I was very disappointed!

I'm sure all DE programs have their own issues. I'm just happy I'm almost done with the first 15 months!

I received my acceptance Feb 10th, and am so excited to start! Anyone else planning on commuting from IL? I'm going to try to, I think, in an effort to save money... but not sure how bad the commute will be, especially in the winter!

We have one person who commutes from Gurnee, IL. It's not too bad. The one thing she wished she had known prior to starting was about "prep". For clinicals starting in fall, you have to go in to the hospital the night before to prep, so she had to drive up on her day off in the eve for an hour. I think that was a hassle. But otherwise, I don't think she minded.

Oh, well that is great to know!! Thanks for the info! I actually work in Gurnee right now, but my commute from home would add another 20 minutes or so more than the commute from Gurnee to Milwaukee.

I'm kind of figuring that I'll just try it, and if it doesn't work, then I'll make the move.
