Maricopa Nursing CEP 2019 (Applicants for April 1st - May 31st)

Published

There is already a post for CEP 2019 Summer Start so I figured I would make a new post for those applying next round. I am curious to see how many people plan to apply and how competitive this round will be.

I am applying to PVCC/NAU with 84 points. Thank you to those who participate and good luck next round! ????

I used the rubric that’s on the Maricopa CEP website to calculate my points so I don’t understand how I got a different number than they did. I emailed the nursing department at ASU a since the university are the ones who calculate the points. If they calculated them wrong and I didn’t get in because of that I will be super upset. Because someone earlier posted that someone with 79.1 points got into GateWay mornings which is what I applied for so if I actually have 79.5 points I should have gotten in.

Im confused on that too. My GPA is a 3.3 with maricopa..but UIU said they calculated a 3.1 GPA and also that they do not calculate the point system..that is only the CCs that do that. So by sending back a 3.1 calculation im sure that is what brought my points down. My overall hesi was a 90. So im disappointed..yet still confused.

ASU told me today that the university only calculates your GPA according to the classes they use and then they send your GPA back to the cc and the cc takes your HESI scores and calculates your final points. ASU told me that they don’t use BIO156 for their GPA which is why mine was lower than I thought it was which is a huge bummer because I got an A in that class.

Okay so I talked to Vicky in admissions at GWCC and she said today that the universities are the ones that calculate the points..which the rep from uiu said otherwise..anywho..unfortunately uiu calculates the gpa by way average of all gpas from all schools you attended. For example, i graduated with a 3.0 in high school..i went to another community college in my home town state that had a total gpa of 3.0 didn't graduate and a 3.3 with maricopa. The average of those 3 is a gpa of 3.1..and my classes from my old community college has nothing to do with nursing pre-reqs or co-reqs..go figure..when i asked uiu they wouldn't tell me exactly how they were getting a 3.1. I don't think i will apply to uiu next round.

That is so weird, why would your high school grades matter? That can’t possibly be right.

I got accepted!!! GWCC/ASU with 81.2 points! Congratulations to everyone that has received their acceptance so far. Keep checking those emails

I am planning to apply for the CEP program in December. I have a 81.73. Do you think the next round will be super competitive? How have the points been in the past, do you know?

Honestly, I think you have a shot. I got in with an 81.2. I believe the lowest score accepted was in between a 79 and an 80. Since you’re on the lower end on points, I suggest applying to schools with more seats, like Gateway or Mesa. Good luck :)

I think I will try and shoot for Mesa. gateway is about a 30 min drive one way. Mesa CC is a lot closer. thank you for your input!

Has anybody heard anything from GWCC/GCU for spring 2020?

I got accepted to SCC with a score of 80.5. I think you shouldn't have a problem getting accepted, I'd just recommend applying to more than one community college to be safe. My advisor said the lowest a college has accepted is a 78 last time but it is becoming more competitive and will rise to 79 and up.

Hi congratulations on getting in. Several people have been telling me my chances are good. I really hope so. I feel like I’ve been waiting for this forever and now that I’m finally doing it it seems so far away. I want to get as much detail I can get in the mean time. May I ask if you know what college take more seats? I’m wanting to apply to MCC. However my application went through with gateway as my first choice because of official transcripts reasons. I’m planning to change my first choice at some point this month after my transcripts are evaluated which were sent off last month on the 21st. Also what are the clinical hours?
