Maricopa Nursing CEP 2019 (Applicants for April 1st - May 31st)
Thank you! The first few weeks have been really good so far! I think the workload is pretty manageable and not too stressful but I don't want to speak too soon haha. The biggest thing I see students struggling with is staying organized (not knowing deadlines or important dates, and planning time to study), being on time, and studying effectively with good notes. Everything we've been tested on is cumulative throughout the whole semester so it's important to really learn the information so you'll remember it throughout the 2 years of nursing school and not to just cram info and dump it all after an exam.

Maricopa Nursing CEP 2019 (Applicants for April 1st - May 31st)
After receiving my acceptance letter I received letters from both the university and community college stating what to do next. My university had me attend an orientation on their campus once and my community college required me to attend 3 several hour long orientations. They go over all the requirements and documentation you need to submit before starting nursing classes. The orientations were really helpful! Basically the school just makes sure you have all your vaccinations/titers/TB tests/CPR certifications submitted and will inform you more about the program and what your schedule may look like as a nursing student. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Yeah, all of the universities that I'm aware of in-state will base your GPA of your science/math classes. Each university has their pros and cons. GCU requires pathophysiology as a pre-requisite. NAU requires college level chem, biology, pathophysiology, developmental psychology, as well as nutrition as prerequisites. Whereas, ASU only requires chemistry. Looking at the Maricopa CEP page online you can find more information on each school and how they calculate your GPA and what pre-reqs are needed on top of the Maricopa ones.

Maricopa Nursing CEP 2019 (Applicants for April 1st - May 31st)
With that given information that would put you at about 82 points which puts you at a good spot of being accepted at any school. Each university has a different way they calculate your GPA so it really also depends on which university you choose (some only use your GPA of science classes, some look at overall GPA, etc.). Personally, I'd recommend applying to the schools closest to you since all Maricopa nursing schools are rated well. Clinical sites will also be more likely to be close to you, saving you time in the long run. Each program runs a little different but one can always transfer to a different cc after a block as well if you aren't happy with your program where you originally get accepted.

Maricopa CEP 2019? (Applicants Dec 1st-January 31st)
I got in my first choice with 80.5 points, if you apply to a few other schools just as a back up I'm sure you'll get accepted! ?

Maricopa Nursing CEP 2019 (Applicants for April 1st - May 31st)
One's score is based off their GPA, HESI, and if they have a degree or not so it varies. I'm not sure of the average here, as I know people who have gotten accepted with around a 3.0 gpa, decent HESI , but have a bachelors behind their name which adds 5 points which makes a HUGE difference. I'd say if you don't have a degree of any sort, make sure your GPA is a 3.5 or above and get a 90% or above on the HESI on both sections. Having both of those will get you a score of 80 which puts you at a decent shot of getting in if you apply to multiple schools. Most people do well on their HESI, it's just really a matter of obtaining a good GPA and having a degree or not. I was lucky enough to get in my first choice with a 3.6 GPA and 90% composite score on HESI. I applied with 80.5 points. I don't have any degree, but if I hadn't been able to get in on the first round, I would've I took an elective class (which would get me an Associates degree) and redid my trig/precalc class I took in highschool, I would've then applied with a score around 86 which would guarantee me in. So story is, your score can change drastically by a few things, so if you don't get in first shot don't let that discourage you!

Maricopa Nursing CEP 2019 (Applicants for April 1st - May 31st)
Thank you! With a score of 81.7 I think you'll have a good chance of getting accepted. To answer your questions, I believe at my community college (SCC) they accept 40/45 CEP students, and 40/45 regular program nursing students. I think this is the average amount of seats for a maricopa cc, but I know some may have a few more/less. I was told that clinical hours will be scheduled on any day of the week, they could be at any clinical agency, and they are almost exclusively day shifts (6 - 12 hour shifts). I apologize for a late reply, but if you have any more questions I'd be happy to answer. ?

I'm not sure how degrees transfer internationally. I'd recommend scheduling an appointment with an advisor at your community college of choice. But yes, you can apply to the regular nursing program once you have finished your second semester and have completed your HESI. However that usually has a waitlist of 2 years, so many apply to the CEP program after the have finished their third semester of prereqs. CEP has no waitlist so most people apply for that. There still may be late start online classes you can begin this year at your community college if you want to get a head start. These classes are accelerated and go from October to December and last 8 weeks. I'd highly recommend talking to an advisor, they'll be able to create a schedule and a plan that will work best for you! Hope this helps ?

Maricopa Nursing CEP 2019 (Applicants for April 1st - May 31st)
I got accepted to SCC with a score of 80.5. I think you shouldn't have a problem getting accepted, I'd just recommend applying to more than one community college to be safe. My advisor said the lowest a college has accepted is a 78 last time but it is becoming more competitive and will rise to 79 and up.

Hi there, to answer your questions: 1. There is not an accelerated way to get through these pre-reqs. I listed the order similar to how I finished them. This is the order I would personally suggest. Semester 1 should be fairly easy, semester 3 is the most difficult, many nursing students I know took micro and A&P 2 together, it's interesting material, just lots of study time. This is just a guideline I'd personally recommend, and it allows for you to be done in 3 semesters. If you crammed your semesters into 2 you'd most likely suffer with maintaining good grades, which well then hurt your chances of getting accepted. You can take some of these over summer as well to speed the process. Semester 1 : ENG101 - English (3 credits) CRE101 - Critical Reading/Thinking - (most test exempt and don't need to take this class) (3 credits)CHM130/CHM130LL - Chemistry + Lab (4 credits) they take high school chem if you have taken it within the last few years, unless you plan on going to ASU it requires college level chemCollege Mathematics - MAT140 or higher (4 credits)Semester 2 : English 102 (3 credits)PSY101 - Psychology (3 credits)BIO201 - Anatomy & Physiology + Lab (4 credits)Semester 3 : BIO202 Anatomy & Physiology 2 (4 credits)BIO205 Microbiology + Lab (4 credits)Humanities elective (2 credits)2. Maricopa community colleges will take most credits from other colleges and universities. You cannot take these privately, you must be in-class or do online. However, you will take a reading comprehension test that will determine if you have to take CRE101 or not. 3. Once you've finished your prerequisites, taken your HESI, and have obtained your fingerprint clearance card you can then apply to nursing school and then the CEP program. There are application deadlines listed on Maricopa's Nursing CEP page. If you have good grades (As and Bs) and did well on the HESI you should have little to no problem getting in on the first shot. Hope this helps! Goodluck!

Hi there, if you go to the maricopa nursing website and view the CEP information session it will help you find a lot of important information. Currently they use these courses to calculate your GPA: - First Year Composition (ENG 101 & ENG 102 or ENG 107 & ENG 108) - Chemistry (CHM 130, CHM 130LL) or one year high school chemistry (high school chemistry not accepted by ASU) - College Mathematics (MAT 140 or higher) - Introduction to Psychology (PSY 101) -Human Anatomy & Physiology I and II (BIO 201; BIO 202) - Microbiology (BIO 205)
