Recently received a call back from Maricopa Med Center Emergency Department about a night job. What can anyone tell me about this facility as far as benefits, staff to pt. ratio, pay scale, safety of the neighborhood, etc. Would greatly appreciate ANY information from you AZ nurses! Thank you!

I can't answer all, as I don't work there. It's the county hospital in a bad part of town. Personally, I would love to work the ED there. Can't say anything about benefits, pay, or ration, that's info that you should ask whomever interviews you. Good luck!

Chello!! I was recently also offered a job at MIHS. I am a new grad and scheduled to start on Jan 28th, even though I'm trying to not be excited until I'm actually working there (because anything can happen).... I'm very excited. There are a few things I can tell you and I will gladly share more once I start-Benefits: first and foremost is the state retirement program. This is NOT OPTIONAL, it is mandatory but it really is a wise investment. It is 11% taken out of your gross pay and is tax deferred. Health insurance through Cigna, two options from 75-120 per month. Dental around 20 per month. Life insurance benefit. Accident insurance benefit. And only a 10% coin durance at MIHS facilities. Not sure about the patient ratio, I'll get back to you on that. Facility has made a HUGE turn around over the past few years, it's a very progressive and dynamic institution. Scrubs- all black or all white. Crowd- patients can be a little rough around the edges, but the whole point is to help the underserved :)

Oh and the neighborhood is a little sketchy, again we are talking about a public health institution here... But I saw security in the parking lot on my trips to the facility. :) bad people exist in all neighborhoods that's what insurance, common sense and door locks are for. As for pay, I believe it starts at 26 and goes up from there, they pay a little more because of the 11% for retirement.
