Maricopa Comm College CEP Fall 2017 Uni/Spring 2018 CC Applicants

U.S.A. Arizona

HI -

Sorry if this is a repeat topic, but hoping to "meet" other applicants hoping to start their online university classes in Fall 2017 and CC in-person nursing blocks in Spring 2018.

Hello!

I turned my CEP application in December but unfortunately was not picked for CEP. I also turned my regular application in Jan 8, 2016.

Hoping to get in this next round. The waiting process is horrible.

My #1 is mcc, then Cgcc.

Hoping to start CEP with Nau or Asu. I will have to wait until my Chemistry class is completed to apply again.

Best of luck everyone!

Best of luck to all! And does anyone know what time the mcc evening classes start for the nursing program?

I have just 2 weeks left....well, 2 and a bit....of my classes. I'm just about clinging onto a half decent grade, but I can see my finals blowing that right out of the water

I really, really, would never suggest taking the workload I have .... Im taking 12 credits: chemistry, microbiology, and pathophysiology, plus the chemistry lab, all on the 8 weeks program. I have to turn in assignments every Wednesday and every Saturday. It's utterly relentless and I barely have time to learn a thing....hence I'm scared for the finals!

Anyway - once these are done, which will be the end of April, I'm heading down to submit my application! AT LAST!!!!!!!! I've printed out the application and have all my paperwork gathered together. Just waiting on these final grades......as soon as they post I'll be high-tailing it down to the college!

Then we will all be playing the waiting game over summer!

Any idea when they May 31st deadline will hear if they got in? If the Uni classes start in the fall, it must be sometime in June or July I suspect!?

Hey all, so I have a "what would you do" question. I applied last year at PVCC for the CEP program, someone dropped the ball and I was not placed as well as left completely in the dark. I decided to reapply for CEP last month for the application period ending May 31st. Because I've been on the waitlist for Maricopa this entire time they just offered me a spot at PVCC for this fall, but for the traditional ADN program. They also said they don't even see a CEP application on file for me, which is concerning to say the least. I spoke with placement and she basically told me I have two options; I can either turn down their offer and "hope" I get placed in the CEP program to start ASU this fall and Maricopa in the spring, or I could just go ahead and accept my placement and apply to start my BSN in block three. I have no idea which way to go, so what would you guys do?

I would accept placement and bridge in. Hands down. CEP has become much more competitive than it was when I applied (fall 2014), so I wouldn't chance not getting placed.

This is not the first post I have read about CEP applications "going missing", which is very alarming given how much preparation and work goes into getting as far as just the application! Not sure how to cover my proverbial a** to avoid this scenario.....??

I would definitely accept the offer for ADN at PVCC. It is a guaranteed slot. The CEP program has gotten extremely competitive. Once you are in the program, I would ask around your peers to see if any of them are going to do the bridge to BSN starting in the third block. You might have a few peers that you could study together with, when you are doing the accelerated BSN portion.

I was concerned about my CEP application being lost. The last day for applications to be turned in, I went and talked to my advisor about switching my third and fourth choices up. My advisor pulled my application out and I was able to change a few schools around. I still got my first choice, but it made me feel better, knowing that my application was input into the system they use. For my third and fourth choice, I picked a night program and weekend program...thinking those would be less competitive. If I got one of those choices then I knew my top two choices for traditional day programs, I was not competitive enough.

Definitely accept placement. You can always bridge in later.

Is the traditional day program the most popular choice then? I was under the false impression that the evening and weekend programs would be a more popular choice for the CEP based on the fact that quite a few people entering the CEP would potentially be older, and therefore working....I'm guessing now that that was an incorrect assumption??

I think the traditional day program is the popular choice. I am basing it on the fact that when I received my acceptance email into the traditional cohort, I had the option to switch cohort (evenings or weekends). Those other cohorts had to request to be on a wait list and had to write a paragraph (tie breaker) as to why the student would prefer the traditional program.

Before I applied, I assumed the traditional day program was popular due to class time and the advice given everywhere about not working or only working part time during nursing school. I would not want to attend evening or weekend classes if I was not working. The CEP does have older second career students, like myself, but there are many younger students going for the CEP too. Its a great deal for a BSN. The day program also allows students whom are parents to attend class while their kids are in school.

I am happy I was accepted into the nursing program and would have still accepted evenings, weekends, or even the ADN program if offered. It's only two years of hard work, dedication, and sacrifices. I hope for the best with everyone applying or already accepted into the programs.

When does your program start, Biostreaker?

Union-Jack, hopefully I'm just one semester ahead of you. I start this summer with university and fall at the community college.
