Union-Jack, hopefully I'm just one semester ahead of you. I start this summer with university and fall at the community college.

I think the traditional day program is the popular choice. I am basing it on the fact that when I received my acceptance email into the traditional cohort, I had the option to switch cohort (evenings or weekends). Those other cohorts had to request to be on a wait list and had to write a paragraph (tie breaker) as to why the student would prefer the traditional program. Before I applied, I assumed the traditional day program was popular due to class time and the advice given everywhere about not working or only working part time during nursing school. I would not want to attend evening or weekend classes if I was not working. The CEP does have older second career students, like myself, but there are many younger students going for the CEP too. Its a great deal for a BSN. The day program also allows students whom are parents to attend class while their kids are in school. I am happy I was accepted into the nursing program and would have still accepted evenings, weekends, or even the ADN program if offered. It's only two years of hard work, dedication, and sacrifices. I hope for the best with everyone applying or already accepted into the programs.

I would definitely accept the offer for ADN at PVCC. It is a guaranteed slot. The CEP program has gotten extremely competitive. Once you are in the program, I would ask around your peers to see if any of them are going to do the bridge to BSN starting in the third block. You might have a few peers that you could study together with, when you are doing the accelerated BSN portion. I was concerned about my CEP application being lost. The last day for applications to be turned in, I went and talked to my advisor about switching my third and fourth choices up. My advisor pulled my application out and I was able to change a few schools around. I still got my first choice, but it made me feel better, knowing that my application was input into the system they use. For my third and fourth choice, I picked a night program and weekend program...thinking those would be less competitive. If I got one of those choices then I knew my top two choices for traditional day programs, I was not competitive enough.

Hello everyone! I was just wondering what are some students plans before starting the summer CEP with their designated University/College. Besides doing all the required work for nursing school (background check, doctor check up, financial aid),I have a variety of things I want to do. My plan so far has been to relax. I made it into the program. Then take a trip to see family in another state, cause with everything I have heard it might be long time before seeing them again. I also want to get in the habit of working out, so going into nursing school it will be second nature to workout. In mid April, I will start reviewing Physiology and Pathophysiology. The final thing, I want to accomplish is to quit my nicotine habit. It's a terrible habit, but I want to head into nursing school nicotine free. I hope everyone enjoys their time they have before entering into nursing school.

I haven't heard anything yet about the mandatory GCC orientation. I'm not concerned with it until we get closer to the expected time frame, which is mid July. I am taking it one step at a time. This week is NAU orientation. I'm waiting on official acceptance to NAU then off to financial aid for some loans I already have a BS degree...which truly was a BS degree. Lol.

Check your email. I received an invite to rsvp about an hour ago. I was in the same position with you, deciding whether to apply to NAU right away or wait. The email stated you can wait until orientation or NAU has a computer lab at certain times that you can go get help with applying. With each email I get the more excited I become about this adventure of becoming a nurse. :)
