Maricopa Comm College CEP Fall 2017 Applicants

Looking to see if there are any other Maricopa Comm College CEP applicants out there yet for Fall 2017 start (summer 2017 at the university). I put in my application Nov 7th & was told it would be a "couple" weeks until I was notified by email if & what schools I get accepted to. Anyone else out there...yet?

Are you accepted into nursing school already or are you just asking about the general (pre) nursing school orientations that give you general information about the MCCCD nursing programs?

I have been accepted into Franklin Pierce/Estrella Mountain Community College CEP. I have heard from various people that both institutions hold different orientations. I really don't want to miss either of them.

Oh great, congrats!! Like Mrs. Bookworm said they should be contacting you, I don't know anyone going to Franklin Pierce, but do know Union Jack got into Estrella too, maybe Union has heard something? They should email you though.

I'm sorry - I can't help with FPU, but my understanding is that EMCC will be in touch with us (via your Maricopa email, so keep checking it) regarding an orientation later in the year. I would suggest contacting FPU and finding out what's going on - do you have an enrollment advisor there? When do your classes begin with FPU?

Hi Union-Jack,

I do have an enrollment advisor with FPU. He has been very helpful for the most part. I am supposed be starting a computer class in August at EMCC (CIS105 I believe) as well as a class through FPU in September. I keep reading about people submitting immunizations/background checks through Castle Branch for other CC's and I get overwhelmed because I feel like I don't know what I am doing.

I would definitely reach out to your advisor about this. I've gone with Ottawa, and although my classes with them begin in August, they are 100% online. I don't have any classes at EMCC until the Spring semester when Block 1 of the nursing begins. That's interesting you're taking classes "in person" too.

My understanding is that EMCC will require us to submit immunization proof before the start of Block 1. However, they will contact us (via email, I suspect) regarding this. I doubt you'll be expected to have those forms submitted before the start of Block 1 either. The background check has already been done, as far as I'm aware; this was your fingerprint clearance card which you did in order to apply to the CEP (they wouldn't have accepted your application without it, so you must have done it!).

However, for complete clarification I would definitely reach out to your advisor and ask him what you should be doing. For example, if you will betaking a computer class at EMCC, then you will need to enroll there, etc.

Awesome! This makes more sense. I was thinking the same thing about the fingerprint clearance card. I have been reading on other links how we will be required to do another background check with Castle Branch.

I was told by the Nursing Director that the reason for me taking the class at EMCC is because it's cheaper to take it there than through FPU. I will definitely contact the FPU advisor and ask more questions.

Hopefully I am getting ahead of myself since we haven't had orientation.
