Maricopa CEP Spring 2021 (Applicants for May 1st- June 2nd)

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hey everyone! I know we're a few weeks out til applications are accepted, but I figured I'd kick this off sooner than later. Who's applying for the CEP program next month?

They pushed the application dates back due to the COVID 19. Are you guys having any trouble talking to an advisor?

Where are you guys going to apply?

GPA?

HESI scores?

Overall points?

I'm applying to EMCC first choice, GCC second choice, and PCC third choice with ASU.

GPA 3.61

HESI Eng 91.33

HESI Math 98

No prior degree

Overall points 82.77

You should be fine ! I know Mesa and Chandler Gilbert are a little more competitive but 83 is pretty solid. I think for sure Scottsdale, if not one of the other two.
I am an over thinker so I’ve literally gone through all the last posts on here regarding CEP and for Scottsdale there’s been people that get in with a little under 80.

Hello! Thank you for your response. I tend to overthink these things too. I think that we just want to have all of the information in making decisions. That is my positive twist!

Hey everyone!

I will be applying for CEP at the end of May. I have to wait for my bio 202 class to finish (it was extended two weeks, ugh!)

My 1st choice is GCC, 2nd EMCC, and 3rd Gateway. The university choice is FPU.

Overall points 81.05

I was going to retake the HESI this month but I am still waiting to see if I will be able to. GCC advisor told me that the last application cycle was about 81.93, whereas the one last May was 80.5.

Hey! 81.05 isn't bad, I wouldn't sweat it. I ended up going with GCC first choice as well and EMCC second choice so we might be in the same cohort!

I do remember seeing some people that got into Gateway with barely over 80, but hopefully you'll get into your first and second choice.

Thank you! the advisor told me that GCC is more competitive than EMCC. He thinks that people got in with a high 79 last cycle. I am staying positive! This whole process is stressful. I already submitted my first application in February so at least I am done with that part LOL

Did you guys get your scores from your advisors or did you calculate it yourself?

You can calculate it yourself

GPA* – calculated GPA, multiply by 10 (40% of total rubric score)
o HESIEnglishCompositescore–multiplyby0.35(35%oftotalrubricscore)o HESIMathscore–multiplyby0.15(15%oftotalrubricscore)

o Previous degree points – 2.5 for Associate’s, 5.0 for Bachelor’s, 7.5 for Master’s, 10 for Doctoral – up to a maximum of 10 possible points (10% of total rubric score)

o There will be a deduction of 10 points for a previous nursing program failure or “withdrawal failing” grade

this info is from the virtual cep information session.

for example

my GPA from the prereqs used is 3.61 x 10= 36.1

my eng HESI score was 91.33 x .35 = 31.97

my math score was 98 x .15 = 14.7

I don't have any other degree so I wouldn't add any points for that my total points are 82.77

I calculated my points on my own BUT I will have my final points total by the end of the month since my Bio 202 class got extended until the 22nd.

The advisor from Ottawa determined my score. I had figured it on my own and it was pretty much the same. If you look on the Maricopa CEP site they have an Admission Check List you can print out and figure your score as well.

It made my last comment "hidden" for some reason. Maybe because I posted a link? Anyway, the advisor from Ottawa determined my score. I had figured it on my own and it was pretty much the same. It sounds like there are more than a few of us who have BIO 202 classes ending on May 22. I don't like having the end date so close to the last days to submit the application. ?

I have a question, wondering if any of you would be able to help. The 10 point deduction for failure of nursing program or withdraw failing grade.. Does the withdraw failing grade apply to any class you've taken or does it apply to a class you've taken in a previous nursing program? When I first started college (ahem 12 years ago) I took on way too many classes my first year and was failing a precalc class and had to drop it. It's forever haunting me I feel.

I am like 95% sure that it only applies to a failure or withdrawal in a nursing program. So on the application there is a box where it asks that.

Do you have a previous nursing program failure or withdrawal/failing? No

Yes

I think they only deduct the points if you select yes for that box. The pre-calc class wasn't for a nursing program so it shouldn't apply to you. Just mark no when you submit your app.

For a definite answer I would email your advisor but I think you should be fine.
