Anyone else planning on starting the program on March 26? I just got off the phone with admissions and they have my transcripts. After my info as been through "two checkpoints," I'm supposed to receive a welcome packet in late February. I'm excited and nervous at the same time!
I thankfully did 1/2 my paper Monday night and finished it up Tuesday night because I have had my 2 nephews here(3 and 6 months) and there was NO way I could do it all! It's been nice not having to think about school for a bit and looking forward to next week off too To bad I have over a year to go! Can't wait until Monday to find out my grade......
Oh that stinking IOM citation....I did it like a journal and figured Ill take the point hit and be D O N E. That last one was the longest straining bit of ugh.
Hmm, I might have screwed it up as well. I just did the title of the paper, and retrieved from. I left out the Institute of medicine part. Oh well. I have an A, so even if I loose a point or something for that, it's not going to hit me hard enough to matter I guess.
Paper is finished, and submitted. Now just to finish the discussion posts. I should get up and go in my room where it's quiet, rather than the living room couch with my 3 year old running around, and hubby snoring away on the other couch. But I'm too lazy to get up, haha.
Done:yelclap::w00t: We should all be proud of ourselves, we made it through the first course. And lets face it.. we were the first class to experience the new combined format. So I'd say we probably had a little more of a challenge. As hard as it was, it does give me a sense of accomplishment and shall I say "a sense of empowerment" haha. But no seriously, I was really nervous. I made it through my first 5 weeks working part time, with a 3 year old, and pregnant, and as far as I know maintained the grade I wanted. I'm not sure what challenges in life everyone else faces, with family, work, whatever. But congrats to you all:up:
When we first started, I thought it was said somewhere that we would use one of our books again. The only book I'm seeing that shows being used twice was Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice. But that was because it was used again in Legal/Ethics. Which we technically just took. Any idea if any of them are really used again, or can we sell them? I rented Ethics and issues, since it was so expensive to buy. But I did purchase the others.

To whoever it was that saved my you know what when they recommended PERRLA, Thank you thank you thank you thank you. Now I just write the papers, I still agonize over my cites, but it was nothing like it used to be.
I felt this class to be way more difficult that I thought it would be, compared to the other nurses who I spoke with who went to online Pheonix, or Chamberlain or the local day college. When the nurse taking Chamberlain looked at my papers (she is now going for a masters there) she told me that she didn't have to half as much as I was doing and she only got "A" in all her classes. Well Ohio University does graduate 12 Fullbright scholars a year - so I guess it is to be expected that our workload is way rigorous. However, I have to admit I learned more in these 5 weeks from my readings and research and so many thngs fell into place and I now wonder how far I would be if I had gone for a BSN years ago. I think Ohio U's first class is particularly rigorous but I can't believe how much useful information I have learned that I can apply in just seeing how things work at my hospital. I am one of those that actually did do all my readings, I really did not do much skimming, and I also did massive amounts of research for each paper and must have spent hours not sleeping to get the information in as concisely and applicable to my situation. Not only that I had to cut out almost 2-3 pages of writing due to my heavy use of multiple daily work examples of everything the Prof asked for and ended putting in only the most recent ones that I remember. I envy those who can get all the good grades with skimming reading and even be able to do papers on their break at work! Glad to know that some people can do so well! Hey 2 more days and we are done! As in Satuday 8am when all is due! Cultural literacy here we come!
