I just found out that I've been accepted to the program starting Fall '02. I'm really excited. I'm taking 3 prereqs right now. Sociology, Lifespan Developmental Psych and Organic/Bio Chemistry w/lab....I will be soooooo proud of myself when this semester is over and I haven't gone looney!!!
Whenever I got unsure about my direction or thought I just couldn't do it, I too walked through the nursing section of the bookstore and looked at everything and reclaimed my passion for it.
I still have to take Microbiology and Lab this summer. I would have had everything done (including histories and art, etc...) by the end of this semester, but I went through a divorce and had to withdraw last semester. That freaked me out because if I couldn't get into my classes this semester I would have been bumped from the program!
I'm just not looking forward to having to take history and such during clinicals. I would have preferred to focus solely on the nursing. But, I can't really complain. I'm in!

I'm planning to return to school F/T in the Fall (after a 6yr layoff). I will be entering in as a 'sophmore' since I have transferred credits...
For prereq's, I plan on taking A&P 1&11 in the summer sessions, then start my first 2 nursing classes this fall, as well as Chem 1 and Micro...
I don't know if that's impossible, but it's very close to what the 'prescribed' 4-year plan is for the BSN at this school. I hope I can do it. :)

Already accepted for Fall 2002, so I'm done all the pre-req's for getting in the program (BscN).
Have a question though: - been reading the pre-req's of nursing programs in the states from the bb, and they sound more like undergrad courses... are they?
Does one have to have a few university courses under their belt before applying to a U.S. nursing program? Not to mention a test for nursing like the MCAT? sounds hard!
In Toronto, great H.S. marks are sufficient enough :) In addition, some university courses taken prior to enrollment in nursing are good to get you exempt from taking them again!

I am starting the nursing program in Fall 2002!!
I have completed the following:
Biology
Algegra
Medical Terminology
Anatomy & Physiology I
Dosage Calculation
English Composition
This summer I am taking:
Anatomy & Physiology II
Developmental Psychology
I have my schedule worked out so that I am only taking one course along with each of my 4 nursing classes. I am also attending summer school in 2003.

At the school I am awaiting acceptance for( my first acceptance at a different school, I had to withdrawl due to personal reasons) this Fall 2002 RN program, there are 2 different RN programs you may enter.
One is the Generic Program and it is for those who does not have any nursing background mostly but LPN, etc, do go this route which is the one I would like to go through because of my personal re-viewing of Fundamental, I feel I need because of being out of school a few years.
For this program the pre-reqs required are:
Principles of Biology I w/lab
English I
Intermediate Algebra or Finite Math
The second Program is the Mobility Program for those who are LPNs and the prerequisites are:
Anatomy and Physiology I w/lab
Intermediate or Finite Math
For the Generic (5 semesters), the NET has to be taken to be considerd and for the Mobility (4 semesters), Fundamental of Nursing has to be taken to be considerd and both exam must be passed with at least a C.
The other general courses are:
Anatomy and Physiology II w/lab
Microbiology w/lab
General Psychology
Fundamentals of Public Speaking
3 different activity courses
Orientation
Critical reading for college
English II
All science and math courses must have been taken within the last five years of the year you will be applying for.
Prayfully, I will start this Fall (2002) and will only have the clincal portion as I have completed all of the required and general courses for the ASN and have taken 4 required and general course for a BSN with only 4 more to go and it is possible I will take them while during clinicals, we will see. Lots Of Love

THis puts me approx.6 months behind. Oh, well....... will graduate in May 2004!! CAN'T WAIT
