Mine is included in my license.
What do you mean by that? I've been in nursing >20 years, and have never heard to that before. Are you in the US?

I have only one thing to say.........keep the policy! 3 years after I had left a position, a case came up for a patient. (it takes a while sometimes for cases to go to court) I was not named in the suit but I had to go testify. (This is another reminder for documentation) But it did bring to mind how long after your pt. is gone, you may be called to task about it. I know it seems like a burden, but it may serve you well in the future.

As a new RN, I definitely carry Liability Insurance on top of what my hospital already provides. Besides, in this litigation-happy society, we can never have enough back-up.

i don't carry it. i believe i'm covered by the hospital i work for. also, i'm part of a union that will defend my license (if needed). i don't think it's really necessary if you're part of a large hospital. i've been told that lawyers go after the deep pockets (such as the doctors and the hospital itself). i know several nurses that have been named in lawsuits, none of which were sued personally.
