Hey everybody,

I am 4 weeks from graduation in an ADN program, and will be starting to work in the summer. Should I purchase my own , or will the hospital cover me?

Thanks,

There are other threads on this subject..do a search for them.. I personally DO! I don't trust the facility I work for to side with me on legal issues..they will look out for themselves!!

I have had since the day I became an RN. It's cheap. I pay around $80/year. Why not, it can't hurt.

see the ob/gyn thread right now..............there is a thread about pro's and con's there.

I agree.. For the cost it cant be beat.. 80 -90 a year depending on your state, and it is 3million dollar policy, (I have.. 89.00 A yr) Some people think if you have insurance then you are more likely to be sued, as then the lawyers have something to go after..But I would never think that an employer would stand behind me in a lawsuit. I have never been sued, but it is very true that employers will look out for themselves.. and we ought to look out for ourselves as well. There are those annoying drop out cards in all the nursing magazines that offers . I have http://www.nso.com and I also have a life insurance plan with them that is real cheap.

Good luck to you where ever you may land.....

I have it too. The hospital is NOT going to stand behind you on some things....always CYA!!!

a simple answer: yes!

you would be crazy to work without it.

:balloons:

NEVER, EVER, EVER trust the hospital to have your back! Get your own insurance. It's only $45/year for a new grad from one company mentioned above.
