Male Nurses in Crocs?

Nurses Men

Published

Maybe I should have posted this in the footwear forum but:

I'm a male student nurse and I've been trying different shoes that don't kill my feet during clinical. On Zappos, they had free returns on Crocs so I decided to give them a shot. They look and feel...odd

Do any guys out there wear Crocs? The ones I picked up were the vented 'Specialist' in white (school dress code).

Are they supposed to be true to size? I wear size 11 sneakers and the 11 Crocs feel like they are engulfing my feet...

Are Crocs all they are cracked up to be?

Do they last awhile or is this something that I will need to replace every 6 months or so?

I'm asking these questions because if I don't like them, I have to return them in 'like-new' condition (So that means it'll be tough to wear them to work, etc. to really give them a test drive).

Thanks!

All my male co-workers who wear Danskos swear by them.

I used to wear knock off cheapos that I got on clearance from allheart. They were great. they were solid and black or navy. I work in a prison now and crocs are not great for running. If you see me running, CATCH UP! I am a big guy and do not get much grief from folks, they say I am intense. I always thought I was laid back.

If crocs work for you, wear them if not don't. Simple.

I wouldn't wear a pair of Crocs. Ever. They look like **** and they don't protect your feet very well (or so I imagine since I would never wear one). I grew up as a medic so I know what can happen when a psych patient stomps on your foot. Running shoes are the best thing if you're walking a lot, or your feet hurt. They are made for long distance stomping. I'd be more concerned about your foot strike. The cause of your foot pain is not your shoe, it's either your stride or your feet. You might consider seeing a podiatrist or a sports medicine specialist. Tai Chi or other martial arts teach you to move smoothly over the ground. Best of luck!

Ok, the crocs i used to wear were great, but the style has been replaced by the Specialist model, and they just don't look the greatest to me. They would wear smooth on the bottoms after a year or so, not bad for 30-40 dollar shoes. They were pretty comfortable, at least to my feet. Also have dansko professionals, and they just feel huge, and at over 110 dollars, they already show some wear after 6 months of use. My opinion for the best, if they are still around, is Keen shoes, bandon model. Very comfortable, easy to clean. And you can't go wrong with a pair of super Birki's.

Dansko clogs all the way in Level 1 Trauma Unit and ICU's.:)

+1 :D. My Danskos have 5 years of 12 hour ICU shifts on them, and they still feel great. They LOOK awful, but that just makes me appear more "experienced".

CROC'S? Even I'm not that Gay (and I'm pretty damned Gay) LOL

You guys need to give these a try been wearing them for awhile, true fit and comfortable but only in black.Skechers work shoes Oswald-Balder

I wear the same 8 inch high top military style boots that medics and cops wear; by 5.11 Tactical. Like nurse 2033, street time gives one an appreciation for solid utilitarian foot gear. Waterproof, stomp proof (by patients or falling O2 tanks), strong ankle support (you'll probably never twist an ankle in these), non slip (for blood or detergent soaked hospital floors or the snow storm outside), and zippered side (for quick easy on and off). I'm there to work, and so are my feet. If I wanted my little tootsies to ride in comfort, I would stay home in my slippers...

Mario Batagli SIGNATURE model Crocs... they beat the hell out of the Birkinstock Profis I wore for years.

I could not care less what they look like... Bright orange by the way....If i have blood running on my foot ... Or dropping a needle.. my feet are protected...
