Malcolm X Nursing Spring 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey there! Is anyone here applying for Malcolm X ADN (nursing) program for Spring 2021? I am a bit nervous. My GPA is 3.0 and I am taking the TEAS soon and hopefully scoring >90 overall. How likely is it to get admitted? Has anyone been admitted with lower stats before? Thanks!

Div, did you also do your prereqs at Malcolm X or somewhere else? Just curious.

A&P: I did at another community college but Malcolm X has honored them. They have to be within 10 yrs.

Chem, Math, and Microbio: I did them at Malcolm X

No, there isn’t. They just do not get to everyone’s application at the same time, I guess. Also, I know that some people are still finishing up the prereqs this semster(me) and I am not sure they look at our application until mid December when final grades are out.

Ah. I see. Hmm. Quite the journey!

Thanks. I did mine at Truman. I thought maybe we could see if we had any of the same classes. I appreciate your help here.

? Your CNA must be active.

To check the status, go to https://hcwrpub.dph.illinois.gov/Search.aspx (I used to work at a CNA school in the admissions dep't. This is the website we used to know if our students passed)

? It doesn't matter if you have a degree. You must submit your transcripts because IDPH requires Malcolm x to have one on file. There are no additional admission points for having a degree since you are applying at a community college. (I think Malcolm X wants to have an equal opportunity for all students, which I really like even though I have a degree.)

More info coming soon...

Actually, I do have a question:

If not accepted, can you ask to be accepted into the LPN program or would you had to have also applied for that as well, during this time?

There’s a separate LPN application going on right now as well but the requirements might be different

Right. My advisor told me months ago that I could apply to both at the same time but I reasoned that they need to weed people out so that if I applied to both, I might just get thrown in the LPN pile when I actually preferred RN and so I didn't apply.

I think the requirements are basically the same (except the prereqs). I just didn't know if you could just default into the LPN program without having opened an application yet.

You're welcome! I try to help as much as I can. I hate the feeling of anxiety.

I don’t think so because it wouldn’t be fair to those who actually applied for the LPN program. As far as I know, also according to old Malcolm x posts, it’s possible to be accepted for both at the same time.

Anyways I am so anxious... I check the portal 2x a day- maybe even 5x a day. Also are your medical docs marked as incomplete or complete?

Totally do the same. LOL. No, mine still say incomplete (though I haven't checked in the last 2 seconds. LOL)  Yours?

I agree it wouldn't be fair if it booted anybody but if there were not as many applicants and there were free seats, it would make sense to fill them.
