Macon State BSN Fall 2011

Published

Anyone out there applied for MSC BSN program for Fall 2011? I was wondering what the timeline is for receiving acceptances. From previous posts on this site, it looks like we may not hear anything until April, even though registration begins in March (I think). Does anyone know how many applicants versus how many acceptances they have each year?

Also, are there any MSC students currently in the BSN program? I am interested to know what you think of the program. Finally, I was wondering how difficult it will be to work while enrolled. I have a daytime job with flexible hours (~25 hours per week). I currently work M-F and plan to continue the position while in the program, but will have the option of changing days/hours around, if needed. How time-consuming is the BSN program, including clinicals and labs? Will it be possible to work 20-25 hours while attending?

I know they probably didn't have time to specify everyone's letter but it definitely would have given students and idea of what to focus on. Well good luck on your finals, I'm due for and A&P final at 5:30 today. I know its easier said than done but try not to focus so much on the letter and knock those finals out. I'm interested and hearing your advisor's advice when you meet with them so keep us posted. GOOD LUCK tomorrow!!

dkwmom, Have you still not gotten a letter? I wonder why it's taking so long for you to get something in the mail.

hc123, no I still have not heard anything. It's kinda freaking me out that its taking so long. I hope they didn't send all the actual accepted students theirs last week and all the rejection letters are going out this week, that would be just awful.

I'm so sorry Lvance7. What an incredibly difficult process this is. But be proud of all that you've accomplished so far. You have met all the requirements for admission and are ready for your opportunity. You are doing the right thing to see your advisor-- if there is no way for you to improve, it is still a way for them to see and get to know you. Keep positive-- it will happen! :redpinkhe

Don't stress too much! You will be fine, and if you don't get in you can always apply for Spring. Good luck with finals!!

Thank you so much for all of your support! It is really helping me keep my head up! I'm just going to keep doing whatever it is I have to do to get where I want to be even if that means it takes me a little longer than I would prefer.

I haven't heard anything either, I guess that means I will tomorrow. Do you all live in the Macon area?

Sharye and dkwmom, I hope you both get good news today!

Lvance, I have been reading this thread for a while and been praying for everyone to get their acceptance letters! I am so sorry to hear about your letter, but it is obvious you have the dedication and you will get there! Just keep your head up! Good luck on your final! :)

Sharye, I live in Warner Robins.. let me know if ya'll get you letters today and good luck with finals everyone!!

hc123, I am moving to Warner Robins the first week of June! My boyfriend works at the base and we are moving into Coldwater Creek apartments. I am super nervous but more excited! Is there anything fun to do? I am not familiar with the area at all, but am so ready for the move!

ashleynicole36, I just moved here in January. I don't love it here, but I don't hate it either. It's a decent place to live. I came from a pretty small town so I like having all the restaurant choices and everything. I do love going to Macon State though. I have had nothing but a positive experience at the school. I hope you like it here! Did you apply for the nursing program for Fall and if so have you heard anything yet?

hc123, I understand where you are coming from. When I visited the area I wasn't super impressed, but right now my boyfriend drives an hour to work in a big truck...so, really, we have to move financially with gas prices. I am sure it will be okay though! I am sure I will be too busy with school to really worry much about finding fun!

I haven't applied yet, I just now switching to a prenursing major from an education major so I need to take some of the science classes and I hope to apply in June. Do you know if it at all possible to take AP1 and Micro together in one semester? Because the only prereq I need for ASN is AP 1 and 2 and Micro. I am just afraid that because I don't have any of the bio classes done, I won't get accepted and then I will be stuck waiting another year without any classes to really take. I am just super confused about everything :) :)

When you apply do they look at cummulative GPA or only the classes that apply to the program? Because I am a transfer student with 57 classes already. Just curious. Sorry for so many questions!

And btw, congrats on getting accepted into the program :) Super exciting!
