Macomb Hesi for 2009 program

U.S.A. Michigan

Anyone getting ready to take the HESI for MCC soon? I am taking it tomorrow and I am super nervous! If anyone has any tips or can share their HESI experiences please do! Also if anyone is applying for the 2009 program like I am, good luck :)!

CorazonDeOro,

I am taking the Hesi in 3 weeks and was wondering if you could tell me what I should focus on. I have the new study guide and the math practice test has quite a few conversions questions, just wondering if there was a lot of that. How was the vocab? Was it pertaining to medical vocab or everyday language? CONGRATS on your score, you should be very proud of yourself, you will get in with that score. Thanks for any help.

I would say definitely get comfortable with conversions (cups to ounces, liters, etc). Also Roman Numerals! The math was the section I was most worried about but I did the best on it. Its pretty much everything the study guide covers, and you can use a calculator so thats even better! The vocab was my worst section, there wasn't that much medical stuff but most of the words WERE in the study guide, so STUDY those for sure. Um...hmm what else. The reading comprehension wasn't too bad but I don't really think u need to study for it, you either understand the concepts or you don't (thats how I felt about it). Grammar was pretty easy too, if you are a native English speaker its all common sense stuff. GOOD LUCK!!! It was much easier than I thought, so just take your time and don't let your nerves get in the way!

Thanks for the info. I am already feeling ill about taking it. I have two classes right now and I am trying to keep my 4.0 gpa and find time to study for the hesi. I just want to get it over with. Thanks again for your help and good luck to you.

So conversions are the best thing to study for? Are the questions all story problems like in the test guide? I hate story problems...lol I am not feeling too good about the net yesterday, so I am going to focus on the HESI and praying that I at least make it into the Macomb Program. I am worried though because I have only a 3.8 gpa from baker and I know the good thing is they are going to take the last 12 credit hours which were all A's for me.

I took the Net test at Baker last week and I feel pretty good about how I did. This is the second time taking it. But I'm not sure because of the amount of people taking the test and how many people they allow in the program. The DON said 186 people took the test last spring and only 44 were accepted in. I need a back up because I'm tired of waiting around. Can you still sign up for the Hesi at Macomb and do I need to take any other classes before I take it? If anyone knows additional classes I might need I would apperciate the info....:nuke:

Panky1 I'm in the same boat as you. I have a 3.76 at Baker and I know so many with a straight 4.0.. But don't worry our GPA's are still to be proud of.. Just don't give up. We will get in somewhere sometime...

cakmd2, there were a lot of people who took it last time at Baker and it looks like there are a lot this time too. I also re-took the NET yesterday, but my brain just didn't want to work....I am glad you feel good about it, I wish you the best of luck!! It was the same test as last time. I just didn't do well this time on it. Oh well!

There are 3 classes that we have to take at Macomb that we didn't take at Baker. They just need to be finished by the time we start the Macomb program. The classes are Nutrition, Ethics and Phys Ed. Not hard classes at all.

I don't think you can sign for the hesi at this time, but then check it out by calling Macomb and see if you still can, because I could be totally wrong. I know they were accepting 1000 people to sign up for the test. The cost is $55.00. I signed up in the summer after I got the rejection letter from Baker, I was tired of sitting around and not going anywhere. :banghead:

The classes needed before starting at MCC are composition, nutrition, psychology, micro, and A&P.

Phys Ed and Ethics are NOT required before starting. Comparative Religions is an alternate to ethics too.

I was speaking as a transfer student and having finished all the other classes at Baker, (A&P, Micro and so forth), then transferring . From what I was told at the school (Macomb) was that those three classes would have to be finished by the summer of 2009 if and only IF I get accepted into Macomb's program. So that is what I was speaking of. These three classes do not need to be taken to do the HESI test, just if we are accepted into the program. Unless they have changed that now.

I am taking the HESI in a couple weeks at Macomb. Conversions eh? Yuck. I don't know any of those. :(

Don't forget to know fractions;)

Does anyone know if there are still test spots available?
