Hello,
I'm new to this site and I plan on applying for Macomb's nursing program Feb, 2017!
I would love to hear from anyone else applying. I'm very nervous and excited.
When I called the lady said they do NOT round up. That's why I thought my gpa was slightly off. The website I used to calculate it said it was a 3.78 but that was rounded. Macomb carries it out to the 4th decimal place and will round it at the 4th decimal place but that's it. Also since they are doing the ranking on April 24th we should receiver our letters by the 27th or 28th. (Later in the week) Last year they did the ranking on April 19th and that was also when the letters were dated and people got their letters on the 23th. So it looks like you get the letter a couple days after they send them out! Which means they do all the ranking in one day. Fingers crossed guys! I have never been so nervous in my life
So I spoke with Karen at the records and registration office. She is the contact with Nursing Admissions questions for applicants whose last names start with A-L. She said they are going to start ranking on the 24th and hope to get all of the letters out by the end of this week (April 28th), or the following Monday at the latest (May 1st). The letters that we all received in the mail are just to confirm that for those of us who have taken all of the required pre-requisites and completed the HESI exam, our ranking would be based on that GPA and the HESI composite score we received. We had until the 21st to contest any of that information, for example if we think our GPA should be higher than what was on the letter that was sent out to us. For those of you who think that your GPA "is off", remember the counseling office only sees your OVERALL GPA in the system. They are not calculating your pre-requisite GPA. When you calculate your own GPA, multiply the grade point in each course by the number of credits that course was worth. For example, A&P was 6 credits, microbiology was 4 credits, English was 3 credits and Intro to Nursing Profession was 1.5 credits. So there were 14.5 credits total that we had to have prior to applying for the course. An A in Intro to Nursing obviously doesn't hold as much weight as an A in the other 3 classes. Having a B in A&P will drag your overall down a bit if the other classes are higher, etc. Multiply each of your grades in the 4 required classes by the number of credits, add up those 4 numbers, and then divide that total by 14.5 to get your GPA that should match that on the letter. We should all hear where we ranked in a week from today.

What do you guys mean your GPA is off? Just and FYI GPA calculators you find online are off the generally round up. The admission system goes to the exact points. My GPA on the calculator is 3.52 but when I figured it out myself its really 3.5194, which is what the letter stated. Hope I help you guys out.
