Let's share our experiences !!! I just wanted to start a page for those who are getting ready for Macomb Nursing program 2014.
I actually applied this year(2013) for the first time. Unfortunately I was't accepted, but I am hoping to be accepted next year! I want to share my experiences, and meet people who are also applying.
I have completed all the prerequisites, and I plan to retake the Hesi test sometime this year.
Welcome!
:)
I don't think so much it's that the HESI means more, I think it just seems that way because just that one score is weighted at 50% of your ranking so depending on what you get and what your GPA is, it could help or hurt you
I want to fast forward like 6 months from now because I am going to go crazy waiting.
Are any of you guys familiar with the RN to BSN programs through Macomb? I am almost done with my classes for the bachelor's program through Michigan State but now I am hearing different things from what my counselor had originally told me. Has anyone else looked into this or talked to a counselor?
@streetcollette
I am also doing the rn to bsn if I get in with my 3.88 gpa and 84.8 hesi score. I have completed most of my credits for my bsn that I could at Macomb. my counselor printed me out the classes I need to take. some classes change every year so you can never be sure if that will be transferred over or not. I plan on going to u of d through the university center at Macomb and as far as I know none of my classes have changed or anything, just keep checking up on Michigan states program and there rn to bsn so you know you are taking the right ones or if you need to take more.
Here's a little encouragement for you guys: I applied last year with a 3.517 GPA and an 86 HESI. I was alternate #14 & received a call today to accept a spot to start this coming March! Due to certain circumstances I had to turn down my spot, so I'll be reapply with the same GPA & HESI. I'm not discouraged because I know I did my best & that it is possible! I say all this to say, don't stress about it. I know it's easier said than done, but it's the best advice I can give. I honestly didn't expect them to call, so I'd already submitted another app for next admission cycle, but I didn't give up or stress about it. This process is long (getting an acceptance/alternate letter, going to orientation, awaiting a start date & for those who will be alternates, simply waiting on that phone call) so worrying the entire time doesn't help. If you need to retake a course to get a better GPA, retake it. If you need a higher HESI score, retake it (I did & end up getting the same score) & reapply, but DON'T stress it. Just do the best you can & when the time is right & if it's meant to be, you will obtain a spot in this program![/quote']Love it! Thank you so much for the encouragement!
I am going to start taking classes this summer towards Michigan states RN to BSN program I ultimately want to get into MSU school for nurse anesthesia. But you have to get your BSN first so I plan on doing that with Macomb's RN-BSN program whenever I am accepted. Then enrolling full time to MSU........ glad Macomb offers a program connected with MSU
From what my counselor told me all of the classes I would be taking at the University center, online, etc. and NOT actually at MSU campus in East Lansing. I heard from someone else that some of the classes might actually have to be taken at State so now I'm like OH GREAT after I have scheduled most of the rest of the classes I need for MSU. And yeah I have all of the print outs for MSU and OU's RN-BSN programs. I had originally enrolled in my pre nursing classes at OU when I graduated high school but ended up taking the classes at Macomb instead (cheaper, more convenient with my schedule) and I know I could do a lot of the classes for OU online from what I've heard. I will be talking to my counselor again this week so I guess we will see.
Have any of you already turned in your applications to the nursing program?
