Macomb Community College Nursing 2014

Published

Let's share our experiences !!! I just wanted to start a page for those who are getting ready for Macomb Nursing program 2014.

I actually applied this year(2013) for the first time. Unfortunately I was't accepted, but I am hoping to be accepted next year! I want to share my experiences, and meet people who are also applying.

I have completed all the prerequisites, and I plan to retake the Hesi test sometime this year.

Welcome!

:)

I got a 92 I believe on the a&p portion. I feel like all of the practice quizzes and having just taken the class really helped me for that section. I have always been a good english student but if I wouldn't have brushed up on the stuff in the book these last few days I would have been freaking today. I know someone who took the HESI a few weeks ago and the things she had were completely different from my questions for all sections. For example she said something about only having a few conversions and I legitimately had probably over 20. I had a hard time getting the hormones during class but I feel like, at least on my test today, my questions seemed general for that topic.

@aschwei and @a.carolina You both have very good GPA's so I think you will be fine.

@Rachel- AREN'T YOU CUTE:dummy1: I had my buddy taking his test with me and his intelligence on green gram staining must have rubbed off on me and guided me through this test

I was so nervous for this test but I don't think it was as hard as I expected but maybe I just feel that way because it's over. I didn't even want to see my scores I just wanted to finish it I had craaaazy anxiety

i feel so dumb reading everyones post i did horrible ........ i got only an 81.6% :-( i totally did terrible on the the A n P portions .......... scores were 90 in math 90 in vocabulary(surprisingly) 86 in reading and comprehension which i think sucks because this is usually my strong point thought i would get a 100 !! but o well and last but not least the worse scores ever ..... 74 n grammer(figures didnt study i spent most time studying a n p just to get a D** 68 i feel my test couldnt had went any worse..... g.p.a is only a 3.47 and my test score is 81.6 i just wanna cry i dont know if i should even waste time applying this year with these scores . does anyone know what the last person who got accepted last year had??????? i dont care if i make the first 5 waiting list ....... i just want this so bad....... but i think i rushed through a lot of the questions because i was so tired never went to sleep last night ........ im very disapointed but there is always next year and from what i hear the rules are changing next yr hopefully for the best...... GOOD JOB TO EVERYONE WITH THE GREAT SCORES YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME......

You are not dumb!!! didn't do as well too, but now we know what we have to improve!!

In my case I was so worried about math and vocabulary, that I overlooked ap, which is one of the reason why my score was low.

Let think positive! Only God knows what's going to happen!!!

Good job to you too!!!

thanks @ a.carolina ........ i just took the last week to really only study a&p but for some reason i couldnt remeber anything at allll ...... idk ill try this year and if i dont get in then ill just retake the hesi at the end of the year and try again next year ... wonder what the new rules will be next yr that my counselor was talking about hope no more pre requs but im not giving up want this too bad but congrats to you

I got a 82% on the HESI and have a 3.7 GPA. Anybody know if there was "select all that apply" questions on every section or just A&P? I completed 3/4 of the whole HESI test before I realized that was sometimes an option. My heart sank when I finally realized that was a option. I cant stop thinking about how many questions I might have gotten wrong after finishing almost 4 of the tests...Thanks,The Village Idiot

Hello everyone! I took my HESI on January 8th, and I scored just 85.2, which i think is pretty low:( I am applying for 2014 nursing program at MCC with 4.0 GPA and 85.20 from HESI, and I hope to be accepted. However, I am not sure if it is enough to get in.

@ant1983 i didnt even know tht any of the questions were all that applies ...... smh wonder how many i got wrong because of that toooo smh i wonder if all the test were the same or not ?

Just took the hesi yesterday, and scored an 84.4. My gpa is 3.65, I hope this will be sufficient? I'm pretty nervous too! My counselor said that I was right on the cusp! It could go either way depending on how many students applied. Go luck to us all:))

Our scores are pretty close, I was freaking out too, but the only thing we an do now is wait!

I'm applying with a 4.0 and 84.4

@DeannaThomas I called the Procter over because I thought there was a miss print. She looked @ the screen and said "nope" and walked away. Thats when I realized I could mark more than one box. And also realized there was boxes instead of circles on that question. I didn't see anymore questions like that for the rest of the a&p portion or on the next/last test which was vocab I think. My study guide didn't have one "select all" in it. Can't believe I messed this up...

Here's a little encouragement for you guys: I applied last year with a 3.517 GPA and an 86 HESI. I was alternate #14 & received a call today to accept a spot to start this coming March! Due to certain circumstances, I had to turn down my spot, so I'll be reapply with the same GPA & HESI. I'm not discouraged because I know I did my best & that it is possible! I say all this to say, don't stress about it. I know it's easier said than done, but it's the best advice I can give. I honestly didn't expect them to call, so I'd already submitted another app for next admission cycle, but I didn't give up or stress about it. This process is long (getting an acceptance/alternate letter, going to orientation, awaiting a start date & for those who will be alternates, simply waiting on that phone call) so worrying the entire time doesn't help. If you need to retake a course to get a better GPA, retake it. If you need a higher HESI score, retake it (I did & end up getting the same score) & reapply, but DON'T stress it. Just do the best you can & when the time is right & if it's meant to be, you will obtain a spot in this program!

wow @alewis55 sumbody told me they got in with an 3.47 and 91 hesi ...... so im guessing the hesi score really does mean alot ...... i know now i wont get in more than likely but its ok i will try again next yr

@anthony1983 i feel the same way i didnt even notice not one question on the test that said that wow i wonder how many i didnt get because of that
