Can anyone provide details as to how the program works? Any info. at all would be appreciated.
Are each set of classes equal to 1/2 of a regular semester (each class is worth approximately 1.5-2.5 credits)?
I just squeaked in (#158) so most likely I will not be starting until March 2011. I have already completed all of my degree requirements above the nursing classes - any suggestions as to which classes to take to go towards a bachelors degree while I am waiting?
Also, I am very excited and would like to start buying supplies or studying before my start - any suggestions would be appreciated! I can't wait until May 19th!
I think it was some scare tactics for those that are looking for a quick career. I knew this was a tough program, but she needed to ease up on the doom and gloom. A few more positives would have been nice! I'm bummed about not having a pinning ceremony. I'd heard about them, they make graduating a bit more special! They really seem to push the BSN instead. I did like hearing from the students. Very encouraging! I guess now, we wait for those letters in June.
I had a teacher this spring and who was a very kind, caring person. Please realize that she is an authority figure and must convey the seriousness of the role as a nurse. Although we are all sure of the path that we are taking, I'm sure there were many people in that auditorium that are not. Think of all of the people on the Alternate list that may miss a spot because someone wasn't sure and makes their decision too late.
As for all of the questions, I do agree with Orna01, a great deal of the questions that were asked were already answered right before. Perhaps many people were just overly excited and missed what she was saying. Regardless, I personally thought she handled the situation well. Plus don't forget all of the cell phones that continued to ring after we were instructed to turn them off! Also, if you were a person with a legitimate question, please do not feel as if she was bothered by you - she truly wants each of us to succeed and is more than happy to help out.
Laujen - were you sitting on the right side of the auditorium about 3-4 rows up from the floor?
zhockey - no, I was in the front row at the very top.... i had on dark skinny jeans, a pinkish tan poncho thingy over a white cami and wedge's on...during break I was trying the uniforms on. I sent my facebook info to like, 7 people, but I guess I didn't run into anyone. I wonder how many people actually showed up yesterday? I created that other thread so we can just keep everything together on one - the Macomb Graduates 2012-13, so check that one out
Nice to meet you Kim! I have the Littmann Classic II S.E. Stethoscope. My daughter bought it for me - she works in the ER and uses the same one.
Did anyone hear anything about what is in the Nurse Pacs that we need? I don't remember them talking about that.
Also, I have forgotten when they said we would get our necessary and recommended book lists.
You took my question Kim! :) I had my hand up, but she didn't see it or whatever, and you asked it. I think I'm going to go with the one you have Lisa - my 2 cousins that graduated from U of M swear by theirs. They said you don't need anything more than one that one does. Here's a good website for it, for only $88 (i like the idea of having it personalized, in case you lose it or whatever) Redding Medical - Littmann Master Classic II Stethoscope #2144 Series
I do have dirty blonde hair.... looks brown in darker lighting. i was sitting kind of in the middle at the top.... more towards the left (if you were looking up from the stage). And my name is Lauren by the way :)

She did seem kinda annoyed with all of us. But I also noticed that many of the questions asked were things that she had just finished talking about. I'm sure that gets very frustrating for her.
