Can anyone provide details as to how the program works? Any info. at all would be appreciated.
Are each set of classes equal to 1/2 of a regular semester (each class is worth approximately 1.5-2.5 credits)?
I just squeaked in (#158) so most likely I will not be starting until March 2011. I have already completed all of my degree requirements above the nursing classes - any suggestions as to which classes to take to go towards a bachelors degree while I am waiting?
Also, I am very excited and would like to start buying supplies or studying before my start - any suggestions would be appreciated! I can't wait until May 19th!
I have an ipod touch, but haven't really looked into any programs for school for it yet. I heard iflipr or something was a good flash card program to use for studying on the touch. Anyone know of any others?
I'm not worrying about the NCLEX yet... I bought a nursing fundamentals book and I'm reading through that to get a head start since it's one of our first classes we'll have to take. I figure there will be an even newer edition come time for the NCLEX, since it is 2 years away! :)
I'm just bringing a pen... I figure they're going to be handing out packets of info, so I just plan on making notes on whatever they give me, if I need to. I'm excited to hear about the new uniforms. If I'm thinking of the right place, if you're not paying attention, you could miss the University Center. I went there to meet with someone from U of D, and it's covered with trees. If you're coming up Garfield heading TOWARDS Hall road, it's the first entrance on your left. Just follow the signs/ the road all the way back... someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't want to go to the wrong place!!
Hey guys! Tomorrow is the big day! Is anyone bringing anything to the orientation, like a notebook or something? Where exactly is the orientation going to be? I've never been in the University Center, I hope its not too hard to find..
I plan on bringing stuff for note taking, just in case! I also thought that some cash for the used scrubs would be a good idea but I did see some posts about the scrubs changing this year. I have never been there either but think it won't be too hard to find. I am SO READY to get moving, all this waiting is making me nuts!
MizzGizz, I have to ask you if you maybe have a super sweet cousin with red hair at Macomb?
Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow!
MizzGizz, I have to ask you if you maybe have a super sweet cousin with red hair at Macomb?
Yes! That's my cousin haha! I'm really bummed she didn't get into the program this year, I was looking forward to going through this together. Just curious, how did you know Steph is my cousin?
I had Micro with her, she was a blast to have as a lab partner! It sucks that she didn't make it, I was hoping she would. She did introduce us once but it was a while ago.
Maybe I'll see ya at the orientation! So glad it's finally here!
SOO.... what did everyone think?? Was it just me or was that woman that gave the orientation kinda rude? I was the one that asked about how many people could register for this pre-req that they sprung on us.... and she wasn't very polite about it. oh well. glad to have an idea of whats going to be happening over the next 2 years!
My head was swimming with all the info. I left still excited to start, but a little sick with worry. I have four kids (all in school, but young) and is it me or is the new class load a little bit heavier than anybody anticipated? Anyway, I did like the prices of the new uniforms and I tried them on. They run big! :)
Yeah, I'm happy with the new prices, but the pants still suck. The scrubs are just basic "royal" blue, so I'm going to go to a scrub shop (one in Ferndale gives students dicounts, so it may be cheaper than what the school is offering by a few dollars) and find some that dont fit like skinny jeans, being tapered at the bottom. I guess I'll start the new forum now so we can all just talk under one thread.

Wow you guys are getting started on studying for the NCLEX already? That's not a bad idea. I actually thought about buying a review book, but I've seen so many different study guides I wasn't sure which one would be the best. Does anyone have an iPod touch? There are quite a few apps that are NCLEX-RN study guides too, but I don't want to spend too much money on an app if it won't really be beneficial..I'm trying to save every penny until school starts!
