I'm trying to get into the Macomb Community College Nursing program. I just took the HESI test and scored a 86.5%. I Also have a 4.0 GPA. What are my chances into getting into the program for 2011, since my HESI is still kind of low?
If anyone can relate please comment. Post scores so we can compare! Thanks for your thoughts:)
You should get your letter by the end of the week (per Teri) with the exact course numbers for you to register for. You are correct that all 40 of you will have the same lecture classes (for the entire 2 years) and each lab/clinical has 8 people. Registration begins July 11th but you can register at any time - it is not like registering for regular classes, your spot is reserved and cannot be filled by anyone else so the stress of registering is nonexistent for the remainder of the program. The suspense of waiting for assignments is so exciting - almost like Christmas Day for us nursing school nerds! :)
I just completed my first 8 weeks and am still learning all of the processes but if you have any other questions, I would be happy to try and answer them.
Hi everyone! I got my start date letter today. There were two pages. The first page says your assigned start date and explains a little about priority registration. The second page is a memo that lists the courses that we have been assigned to, including the clinicals! I am an August start, and it lists all 7 sections that I am assigned to for the entire first semester, not just the first 8 weeks.
LOL I would never have throught that anyone would have gotten their Winter classes this soon. That would be overkill! I was just pointing out that it wasn't only the first 8 weeks of the Fall semester that was sent out, and that it was our exact placements. (I'm sort of thinking of next year's applicants here too, so they have an accurate timeline of what happened and when, if they decide to read our thread)
I'm just glad that I can plan for the whole semester and register for an additional class & volunteer on a regular schedule without having to worry about whether I'll get assigned to a clinical that conflicts with those extracurriculars. Now, if my October clinical changes as the date approaches, I'll just have to deal with it then! :)

Don't be too surprised if your clinical changes at the very last minute. At MCC my maternity clinical changed times/days THREE Times before the start of class, like very close to the start date. They didn't even tell us, I just happened to notice it on Webadvisor! It started as an am clinical and switched to pm on different days, VERY frustrating!

Your first clinical site depends on who your instructor is. I was on a med/surg floor. But ----'s students were on Cardiac. Although, my instructor @ Troy was an ER nurse, they made her operate on Med/Surg for us (she would go back to ER when not with us), so that may be the case in a lot of sites. We just got our sites for Med/Surg and Psych.... I'm trying to switch with a classmate because she has Beaumont GP which is basically next door to me, and I have HF Warren, which is kind of closer to her in Romeo...but ------- said they're trying to do away with switches....we'll see. I'm hoping though, it would help out with my childcare situation a little bit!

Im in Florida right now, I had my neighbor read my start date to me! So I don't know what was sent to us. Does it say how it works on the letter forms? I went on webadvisor to get the days and times of the classes just to get an idea.
