As H4 you will not be allowed to work and currently no way for you to adjust your visa to work. If the BON required English exam then yes you need it otherwise if looking at getting vias on own then you will need VSC and that does require English exam. So in general yes you need English exam. Only exception would be if your spouce was USC but even then if foreign trained and BON requires English exam then it needs doing

Welcome

Even if you pass NCLEX without a visa which allows you to work you can't. Currently with retrogression there is no way to adjust your visa from H4 to a working visa. Suggest you check out the forum on retrogression.

For Illinois you need CES or other approved evaluation of training and an English exam.

Can we ask that you don't type in captials as classed as shouting and also not to use text, this is a good way for you to practice writing English and unless it is an acceptable hospital abbreviation you should be writing documents clear and concise

m not going on H4 visa, m going on spouse visa nd my hubby is on H1 visa, i will b dere by spouse visa but m not clear that what is required to b a registered professional nurse....., do help me out.

If your husband holds the H1-B visa, the visa that you will be getting is called the H-4. It does not permit you to work in the US. You are only permitted to be here as his dependent.

First question would be where did you train and was 100% of your training in English? If not, you will have to write the English exam before they will permit you to sit for the NCLEX exam.

And since your husband's visa does not permit you to work, it means that you would be applying for a visa that does permit you to work once you have passed the exams and you are actually required to have a Visa Screen Certificate to be petitioned and that requires the full set of English exams, not just basic TOEFL.

Suggest that you do some reading here on this forum as there is much that you need to be aware of.

thanks for ur guidance, my whole graduation was purely in english, so now i need a set of english tests and nclex exam , but can i appear in dese exams after coming to US, i mean can i apply for my Visa Screen Certificate after coming to US or i have to come dere on that basis.

If your husband holds the H1-B visa, the visa

You seem to be missing the point. You CANNOT work in the US as the spouse of a H1 visa holder.

You can apply at anytime but will make no difference UNLESS you have a visa which allows you to work you can not work and a spouse of a H1 will not allow you to work

thank you very much 4 ur help , now i got the whole thing that i will b on H4 visa nd then i can apply for H1B OR OTHER WORKING VISA........

Not many hospitals do H1 and even then it is a lottery to getting one as only available in April for Oct start and demand such that they have all done within hours. If you apply for a GC after finding an employer to petition you, you can not work and have to wait for Consular processing as AOS is not accepted whilst visas are regressed so looking at several years. There is no way currently on changing your visa to a work visa and be able to work

And the exams can be written in the US; you are going to have all of the time in the world; as in years to get them done.

You may not need the English for the licensure, but you are going to need it for any type of visa that will permit you to work.

Not sure exactly where you trained either, but to even have a chance at a H1-B visa, you must have at least a four year BSN to even qualify for it and you have never stated where you have trained.
