LVN to RN Bridge

Published

Hello,

when I was in LVN school they told us that if we enrolled as an LVN in a bridge to RN we could work as the RN at our job.

is that true? I am in Texas. I cannot find anything on the BON website about this.

if working as the RN is allowed can you be paid as the RN while in the bridge program?

thanks

It seems unlikely. The BON would probably take a dim  view of somebody working in RN scope and standards who isn’t actually an RN. The hospital would put you at risk if they did that.

They can pay you more if they want, but they cannot grant you permission to present yourself to the public as an RN.

Not true at all.

I'm brand new to the boards here...but can someone tell me how to post a new topic?  Please?

1) Go to your profile immediately and change your name to something else. You never know who will search you for some reason and find your posts here. They are not private.
2) Choose what you want to post under (e.g., New Students, HIPAA, Camp Nursing, General Nursing…) and you’ll see the “Add New Topic” button at the top.

Thank you for the information Hannah...however, I don't have the 'Add New Topic' button at the top of the page....I was wondering if I need special permissions from an admin or something in order to start new threads?

Might need to have made a certain number of “quality” posts first, e.g., more than “Agree!” LOL. Not sure what that is but it seems like it’s something like 10 or 15, not too many. Prevents spammers from bombing the lists.

Specializes in Psychiatric, hospice, rehab.

As an LVN who enrolled in an RN bridge program in California, that would never happen. Not sure about Texas but highly unlikely and unsafe!
