hi! can you give me any names of school in Phil thats offering lvn / lpn? i hope that someone could help me with this...thanks...
Im a u.s.citizen, so is it ok for me to take lpn class here in philippines without a problem of getting a license back in the u.s.? I inquired at holy angel they have 1 yr practical nursing but Im kinda hesitant to enroll because of what I read in this forum that the lpn here might not be recognized in u.s.
Silly question that you may wish to consider:
Why in the world would you wish to go for training in a country that does not even recognize the training that you would be doing there? The PRC does not recognize the LPN for licensure there in the Philippines, so that also means that many there are not familiar with the role of the PN in the first place.
If you are going there to save time or money, you would be better off attending in the US. There are many areas that are no longer using the LPN/LVN in their facilities, suggest that you spend sometime doing some reading here.
The instructors teaching in those programs there for the most part, have never worked with LPNs either, and have no experience in the realm of the PN.
I know of many employers that will not accept the LPN training for employment in the US, even if you are a US citizen, they just do not like it.
I suggest take BSN instead. then if you still want to work as an LPN, you might as well take your LPN here in the US. but, I suggest just go for BSN. just to let you know, having a BSN is better. dont waste your time and money by studying LPN in the Phil. you will regret it later.
It used to be that way. I've been asking different Nursing Boards and they DON'T allow BSN trained overseas to take the LPN exam anymore. My wife was planning to do this as she is not yet confident for the NCLEX-RN but they most boards changed the rules.
Hi guys... I just want to share something...
We have a mini grocery store and I saw this lady who bought something in our store. I was so curious if she's a nurse, student-nurse or whatever! So out of my curiousity I asked her. She was a former management student and taking up PN. I was not able to shut my mouth because she said she would take up NCLEX-PN. Thanks from suzaane I had an idea on what to tell her. And please correct me if I'm wrong. I told her that unless she's an american citizen or was petitioned, she wouldn't be hired in US because because they are considered unskilled workers. I also told her the wrong information that Sec. Brion said.
What I conclude about students taking up PN is that some of them were not informed properly! They expect that they would be this and that..... Then after they study, they end up disappointed!

Come on! Why dont you take up LPN in US? And like what RNHawaii and others suggested, I second the motion! Just take BSN! Its more practical than taking up LPN! Think about it... Just look at what will happen if you take up BSN or LPN... Compare the opportunities you can get after that... The advantages and disadvantages... Dont put yourself in a situation that you can regret forever! Especially if it can cause your lifetime career!
What was her reaction? Did she believe you? Tell her to always read the newspapers (not that you will see her again - but maybe to someone else you'll chance upon again). Sec. Brion's statements on the newspapers keeps changing and if someone still don't believe, tell them to pay attention to details on what they read. Particularly the recent news regarding the need to negotiate the immigration policies of the US to accept LPNs. If there was a venue for LPNs to migrate easily then there should not even be news regarding negotiations. This just means that they now know that there is no venue for it.We have a mini grocery store and I saw this lady who bought something in our store. This is the latest retraction from Sec. Brion. There are still some errors but he retracted most of what he said before and by the time they finish their studies, they'll be learning more mistakes. How I wish they stop making comments before any studies are finished but that's how it is here.
Sorry that Brion is in a government job there, he has no idea of what he is talking about. And there are no negotiations going on in the US to permit LPNs from there to be able to work in the US.
Just is not going to happen. The US does not have a shortage of LPNs for one thing, and they do not even permit LPNs from Canada to get a visa to work in the US. And the LPN role is accepted in their country.
Brion needs to focus on cleaning up the issues with the RN schools there, and at least get something done that way.
He is just looking for something to get his name on, and not doing it correctly. He is not helping anyone.
And when that person comes back to the store next year when she finds out that she cannot go anywhere to work out of your country, other than as a maid/care giver; wonder what she will be doing then?
There are some people that think that they know it all, and no matter what you tell them, they are not going to learn.
----------------------
I just hope that proper information regarding LPN should be publicly announce in Radio, TV and newspaper so that everyone who aspires to take it would have an idea on what they're getting into! Because if we always rely on the internet to inform them, I dont think everyone would have a chance or access to it. After that, it's up to them if they still want to pursue LPN or take up BSN instead! At least, this time they already know what will happen next. If things don't happen as what they expected it to happen, they wouldn't blame others but themselves!
But I guess that Brion just proved my point that I have been making all along in that there are no visas available for those that go thru the LPN training and pass the NCLEX-PN exam.
In his own words, he stated that they were under negotiations, but that just means that there are none. And the US is not going to permit LPNs from PI to get a visa when they will not extend that to those from Canada that have training the same as those in the US, not from a country that does not even recognize the LPN for licensure.
Find it too funny, but that is the proof in a nutshell.

Just take the LPN course in the US if you want my opinion.
