I am getting stressed out now. I have had my LVN license for a good 3wks, I graduated mid Aug. Put in applications at all the local hospitals( there are 5 around here), 2 nursing homes(which I don't want to work at but desperate), and 1 home health agency. No phone calls or anything yet.
Any advice? Any one been there before?
I live in the Southeast Texas area....

I am really sad you haven't found a job yet:(
Did you get any offers from any clinical sites you were at? Have you tried contacting them again? I would talk to your school's placement center and see if they can do anything for you
Good Luck!

I was just in the same boat. Set up appointments with the nurse recruiters. Tell them you have sent in applications, and would like to find out more about the positions. That will give you a face to face. Then call the nurse recruiter weekly to see if anything has opened. It took me a little over a month, but I got a full time position at the hospital I wanted.
Good luck, I hope this helps.

I work at a nursing home and this was my first time at a nursing home and it can be a little overwelming. I just started and I have already got a interview for a local hospital. The nursing home pays the most, but you are going to get the most experience at the hospital on a med surg floor.
In my area nursinghomes pay 17-20 per hour and hospitals pay 14-16 per hour. If you opt not to choose to take their health insurance you will make more. Or if you do "power week-ends" you will make up to 25 per hour.

What city do you live in? I live in Kerrville, Tx and work for the state hopsital here. I got hired on right after graduation before I got my license. Sometimes it is hard, but alot of nursing students ask around at there clinicals to see who is hiring or not. Then some fill out applications and put a date down after there graduation. here in texas alot of hospitals will hire u as a GVN. You might want to open your options and relocate if possible. I just got lucky and put my application in a week before i graduated.
Best of luck.

I live in Fort Worth, Texas and found employment within a couple of days after being issued my temporary Texas license. I would gather the names and addresses of the places where you submitted applications and send them all 'Thank You' cards. A 'Thank You' card should thank these people for accepting your application. Leave your phone number in each of these cards and ask them to call you if any open nursing position arises.
Thanks to all of you for your help. I really appreciate it.
