Nursing Students LPN-RN

Updated:   Published

Are there any LVN-BSN students currently attending West Coast University in California ?

Im interested in this school but would like some feedback to how the program is structured, schedule, teachers ect. Would you recommend to prospective students ? Please help !

They are no longer offering the lvn-rn, their last lvn-rn class started nov. 9th. They only have the 39 month BSN program available.

i recently went to westcoast and they said their last lvn to rn program starts in april, but you need to have most of the pre reqs to qualify. im still waiting to see if i qualify. LVN to BSN is 3 years and 130,000...a little ridic

$130,000=a lot ridiculous.

IT IS NOT LVN TO BSN, IT IS JUST BSN (don't have to be LVN). They might start LVN to BSN, but it is still in the air...

They are not offering the LVN-BSN. Only the BSN 39 month program. The total cost will be $132000 starting in April. Right now it will be a little less. If you have some of your pre-reqs done already they will reduce the price.

i actually got the email today with in this matter. it states that it's not available....here is the link

i dont know anything about the tuition but pls let me know if anyone inquires in this..Thanks

I am currently enrolled for the January 31st 2011 start date. The tuition with books is 116k for the lvn to bsn. You're saving 16k or 20k, I can't remember the BSN tuition off the top of my head. I am not taking out private loans and opted to make payments monthly after FA. It may not be much of a difference but I was planning on just doing the straight BSN program and this was a pleasant surprise, especially when paying big $ out of pocket. I wasn't even aware they had an LVN to BSN program but they literally got approval last week or so and I got lucky. I've been trying to get my LVN to ADN done at PCC and after a year or so of not even getting any of my vital pre-reqs done, I've decided that a CC is not for me. By the time I would've been done with just my pre-reqs I probably will already be working as an RN with a BSN by going through WCU.

Well congratulations West Coast I guess they tired of only getting $70k from their LVN -Bridge and wanted to figure out how to make the program even more expensive. Good job (not)

I really don't understand all the negative remarks about WCU. It's actually pretty competitive with other private schools tuition wise.

No it's not. Not really. Other private schools vs WCU which is FOR PROFIT that charge $20,000 offer you a better quality education and other student services along with your classes.

I went to WCU sister school for my LVN. WCU at that time was on the 3rd floor. This company care mainly about collecting tuition first, their reputation second so they can sell more tuition and MAYBE the students 3rd (probably not)

Think about this do you really want to go to a college that's owned by the son of Uncle Jesse from the Dukes of Hazaard who originally got into the trade school business as a tax shelter for his Hollywood income.

WCU used to be an optical college which was bought by ACC to turn into a nursing school so they could use it's prestige and its founded in 1901 history.

What your getting is a manufactured and heavily marketed product. Much like a Big Mac

What private school is 20k for a BSN? I think you're thinking of schools like Cal State and UC schools, which are extremely difficult to get into as it is and requires a lot of fighting for your classes. They are great schools but I just do not have the patience to keep being put on wait lists for my classes. Plus I think they're a little higher than 20k total for a BSN, probably closer to 34k unless if you bring in transfer credits from a CC.

ADNs are cheaper, for sure. I've seen a ton of schools for under $4,000 for the whole program and the private schools that have bridge programs for LVN to ADN anywhere from 30k to 60k.

All the private schools that I've looked into (Mt. St. Mary's, APU for example) are closer to 28k-30k per school year. That doesn't include books or uniform or parking or misc. fees. That throws those schools well over the 100k mark. My whole point is that the private schools I looked into are very comparable in cost to WCU. I have 2 friends currently attending their second year at WCU (ontario and LA, one doing the last class for lvn to adn and the other straight BSN) and I've heard nothing but positive things so I am pretty confidant in my decision.

It's definitely not for everyone, that is for sure.
