Lurie Children's New Grad Residency 2022

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi everyone! I haven't seen a thread yet for the new grad residency program at Lurie Children's for the August/October 2022 start dates. Has anyone that's applied heard anything yet?

Do you know if any of the interviewees were out of state? I was just told by a recruiter today that no department had started interviewing external applicants yet so now I’m more confused ?

IDK I didn’t really get a chance to talk to them and I know with the NICU they started interviews earlier than other units CCU also. I think it’s just based on the department really!

What area did you apply for?

I listed NICU and CCU as my top two choices. I am definitely open to a few other units but didn’t see any way to convey that on the application. I had my senior capstone in the NICU and adult CICU, so I was hopeful for an interview based on that and other experience, but I guess we’ll see! It seems a little less likely now if they’ve already started interviewing people for both of those units and I haven’t heard anything.

Don’t think that I know the NICU still has another interview day and IDK if that’ll be the last one. One thing I learned about Lurie is there slow at everything. They’ll still be interviewing because it seems they’re interviewing 8 at a time which isn’t a lot.

What unit did you interview for today? It was a group interview with other candidates?

The person who got an ED interview, were they an internal candidate who has already been working at Lurie? Did they have prior ED experience working as a PCT?

They were an external out of state candidate who did their practicum in the ED (only experience they have in it)!

Are you an internal applicant that has worked at Lurie before?

Just got an email confirmation! My interview will be next Tuesday

@Makalah nicole I hope you get the offer! My interview is next week, any advice. I'm an external so I really want to do well. Do you also know if PICU is super packed with internal applicants by chance? Thanks ?

Just be yourself! The questions were really simple why do you want to be a nicu nurse? What made you choose nursing? What do you think will be a challenge being in the NICU? I think they just wanna see the passion you have for nursing honestly. IDK about PICU most of the internal people I know are from the NICU because I’m still considered a new employee so  I’m unsure of there internal applicants. Sorry.
