Lurie Children's New Grad Residency 2022

Published

Hi everyone! I haven't seen a thread yet for the new grad residency program at Lurie Children's for the August/October 2022 start dates. Has anyone that's applied heard anything yet?

Are they hearing back about interviews in a phone call or email?

Are interviews in person or over zoom?

Hi everyone! I just talked to a recruiter today who said there were several hundred applicants they were still sorting thorugh. They haven't begun to look at external applicants yet, only internal, and departments fill up spots with internal applicants first. They said if you are an external applicant it would probably be at least a couple more weeks at minimum before being contacted for an interview. They said that departments reach out individually to people to set up an interview and the timeline for those is somewhat department specific. Basically, if you haven't heard back yet, it's not a no, they just have a large volume of applications to review and pass on to department managers. Hope that's helpful!

The recruiter I spoke to said for the residency program that local applicants are asked to come in person for a final interview and they can offer out-of-state applicants a virtual interview.

they've been getting back to in person but depending on where you are they'll make arrangements I believe. we had a interview today and most of us were in person and it also depends on the unit.

What unit did you interview for today? It was a group interview with other candidates?

I applied to NICU and PICU- haven’t heard back! But know someone who applied to the ED and heard back!

The person who got an ED interview, were they an internal candidate who has already been working at Lurie? Did they have prior ED experience working as a PCT?

I interviewed for NICU. It was a group interview but they do split you up into little groups so four interviewed with managers, two Got a tour and the other two had a interview with floor nurses. Then you guys keep switching.

Do you know if any of the interviewees were out of state? I was just told by a recruiter today that no department had started interviewing external applicants yet so now I’m more confused ?

Congrats, I hope you get the offer!!

Maybe it’s department specific then? I wish recruiters would be more consistent with the information at least. So you were considered an external applicant?
