I've been reading through old threads about Lucile Packard's New Grad RN Nurse Residency program but couldn't find any info or threads about 2015. The application period just closed, who else applied? What unit are you interested in working? Any past cohorts of the LPCH new grad program willing to share their experiences? Anyone have any info about the program that they can share?
I saw in a previous year's LPCH Versant discussion board that 45 were called back for second interviews for 25 positions. I guess the number of second interview offers depends on how many spots they have. I don't know how many positions there will be for this cohort-- let's hope that it's a lot! :)
Hi OR candidates:
I did my second interview today! Take everything I say with a grain of salt because I know the unit after doing my preceptorship there BUT:
It is a lot more casual than the first interviews. Most likely you, the manager ----------------------, nurse educator, and a manager from the SSU/other areas. (thats who it was for me).
They asked a lot of personality questions like... how do you deal with stress, etc. Know why you want Packard, know why you want the OR. Ask about the training! It's a new setup this year and I feel like they are really excited about it, so it would look good to ask about it. FYI: it's Versant + Periop 101, so you do versant classes and learn scrub/circ role. Really awesome.
The manager and the others are VERY nice, non-judgemental and like to talk. Think of it as more of a conversation than an interview. If you have more questions, reply and let me know.

You're awesome! Thank you for the heads up! I'm looking forward to interviewing with the team. :)

I was told that it would be more behavioral questions but it would be much less intense than the panel interview... more of a conversation. And I think there will be the patient care manager, assistant manager, and probably a few staff nurses interviewing you.
