LSU Fall 2018 BSN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello from California! Thought it was time to create a thread for those applying for LSU's 2018 Fall BSN program. This thread is set up for hopes of meeting (comparing info) with future students, and would love feedback from those that have applied before and or are currently in the LSU BSN program.

Couple of questions:

Where you from (though I am sure most are from the LA area, I am coming from San Diego, military spouse)?

Where are you currently going to school?

Have you taken the HESI yet? If so how was it? Study recommendations?

Are you currently an EMT/CNA/RNA or any other form health provider?

I am personally super excited, beyond nervous, and honestly have my head down working my bum off to get up to this point.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone. Also I know myself and others would GREATLY appreciate any information (average GPA's, HESI scores, personalities, interview process, essay questions) from current or past students.

Alrighty *fist bump*, we got this!

I just got an email and a link to the interview everyone. I have work tomorrow so I probably won't get time for the interview until Monday! I want to look at the questions before hand to think about them but I'm so scared to press the interview now button to see the questions. Have any of yall gotten the link yet?

I have and yeah I am nervous too! Will it start to count them?

Hi guys,

I recently found out about LSU's BSN program and intend to apply for admissions for next Spring. Is there anything I should know going in or any tips you guys have?

Okay, I was able to open the question and nothing happened.

Hey everyone, how's the interview process going for everyone. I'm on the second question right now. I really wish they would let us see all of the question at once so I could answer the ones I feel stronger about first.

Make sure you are always always up to date with every dead line. You should also attend the seminars, if you're not in the area then there's a webinar option. Make sure you have about $300+ dollars to spare. $50 for NursingCAS, $50 for LSU's supplemental application, $100 for the HESI and maybe another $100 if you take it again. Also make sure if you have completed a semester with any of your prereqs in it, send ASAP to NursingCAS just to make sure you get as many things sent as early as possible.

Thank you so much!

Hi, I would definitely take the HESI once atlas 7 weeks in advance, so you have time to retake it. Really make sure that you are staying on track with the required pre-reqs on the left of the chart and make sure you send in your transcripts about a month before the application is due. You should definitely try to get involved in as much as possible, especially volunteering.

Yeah you should get as much experience with working with people as possible. It's not mandatory but it will help you answer some interview questions. Speaking of interviews, how is everyone's interviews going?

I would really aim to get volunteer opportunities in the medical field to see what a day in the life of a nurse looks like.

Has everyone finished their interviews? I just finished mine this Wednesday, so I wanted to see how everyone else's experiences were going.

I have also been invited to take part in the proctor essay at lsu for fall 2018!! What day are you guys going?
